I have seen a lot of blogs, alot of complaints and hogwash on EBay.  Too many complaints, from sellers complaining about fees.

What you expecting not to pay the fees?  Maybe EBay shouldn't charge.  Is that it?

Maybe you should open your eyes up a little bit.

You can start your own domain site, not charge any fees, for a listing, do not charge any fees for a posting with any pictures, make the whole site free of fees, and see how long it will take before your site crashes.

Let's see.  EBay and Paypal, employee a lot of people.  Some are friends and relatives.  They earn a living, with an hourly wage.

AMoungst this is this small thing...the fees are small enough, for everyone, they can afford it.  There is the ISBN number to help with pictures on the web.  a small fee.  A relisting fee.  A posting fee.  Mailing fees.  Paypal fees.  And a small token fee if the item sells.  Roughly, with all the fees, if you do real good, and manage to get the item sold, you won't loose too much money.

Say for instance, just to get rid of an item, you sell a book.  It sells for, say-$2.00.  You post and re-list the book several times.   That costs you a small amount of change.  The shipping and handeling on the book of 5-pounds is about $3.72 for media mail.  The buyer pays that. Okay.  So you collect $5.72.

You get paid for the item, take it to the post office with the label, and the post office finds you are off in your weight by 2 lbs.  you pay the difference.  About $1.36.  So you lost a little money.  Next time, use a scale, learn from it and go on.

The Post Office is not an exact science.  They try and work with you, because they see you as a small time operator, who may make it big someday, and they would like the repeat business.  Just like paypal and Ebay and the customers out there.

Everyone, is rooting for you, to make it.  Even if you want the site to be free...think about the people you are helping to employee....the postal workers, truck drivers at the post office, paypal, ebay,  The people who work overnight to buy your item.  The programmers you help maintain the website you use.  The customer service people who helped you with the small problem you had.  There are alot of people employed.  And you want what?  A free site so you can cash in on profits that you are entitled to.

My only comment here:  Start your own site, do not charge for anything, and tell everyone, there is no charge for the mailings, it is free....there is no charge for the postings, it is free.  There is no charge for using your own bank, it is free.  When you start a business like that, and pay for something like that, and do not charge a dime for the site, you will be overwhelmed with so many hits your server, my friend, will crash.  Then you will have a new problem.  You will have to hire a programmer and some one from the telephone company to come to your aide.  And they are not free.

Remember, we as strangers come together, at one location to offer our goods, to other people on the internet.  They call us E-BAYERS.  I like that personally.  We seel, we buy and we mail.  And in time, we have grown into one of the largest communities on the internet.

We all come from different walks of life, different backgrounds, different education, different races and creeds.  But, here, we are all the same.  We are a community on E-Bay, that we help to support other people who buy and sell items here.

God Bless you all, Happy New Year *2007* may you have a very prosperous New Year.
