I live in Ohio and at times the snowfall can be heavy. Late last winter we had about 11 inches of snow and on a very slight incline my car simply came to a halt, pedal pressed to the floor, wheels spinning very slowly.
What's wrong? I see 5 factors. First the Constant Velocity Transmission is controlled by a traction control program. When the wheels start spinning, to protect the transmission it goes into chuck slow turn mode. It will stop a car going slightly uphill.
Tires are low friction, longer wheelbase, and air flow plastic sheets under car lower vehicle.
I was so disturbed by this that I traded the 2007 Camry into the dealer on a new Carolla.
I will not consider a hybrid until this flaw is addressed.
A very fine car, just not in deep snow.
