Cellulite and Stretch Mark Tips

by timetospa Outlet

With bathing suit season around the corner, it's time to step up the cardio and cut down on calories. Year after year, as we anxiously try on our bikinis and examine our imperfections, two demons never seem to disappear - cellulite and stretch marks . Over 85% of women display some degree of cellulite, while over 75-90% of women develop stretch marks during puberty and pregnancy. We, at timetospa , are committed to helping you feel better about yourself – both inside and out. So, we've developed these helpful tips to help you on your way!

Nicky Calice , our chief certified aesthetician and a virtual spa and lifestyle guru , dispels the myths and unveils best practices for minimizing cellulite and stretch marks.

Cellulite Tips

Cause of Cellulite

It's caused by a build-up of toxic waste in the body. Not knowing what to do with this waste, the body stores it where circulation is slow (like your thighs and butt). The most stubborn types are caused by hormonal influences, pregnancy, puberty, menopause and usage of contraceptives and hormone replacement therapy. Cellulite can't be prevented through diet and exercise alone - even supermodels (most recently, Tyra Banks) have it. But we can help to alleviate it:

Diet Tips

While thin people still have cellulite, certain foods can exacerbate it, such as unnatural substances like artificial sweeteners. Diets full of natural, high fiber foods and lots of water can help lessen the appearance of cellulite.
  • Body Brush

A natural cactus bristle brush can provide great results for reducing cellulite - it increases circulation, improves metabolism, eliminates dead skin cells and helps the body's natural detoxification process. Nicky recommends the Elemis Body Brush .

  •  Detox

Get to the root of the problem by ridding the body of toxins. Nicky recommends a body oil that contains a powerful synergy of detoxifying seabuckthorn, sea fennel, lemon and juniper. Try the Cellutox Herbal Bath Synergy .

  •      Firming Cream

A good firming cream will keep skin smooth and soft and alleviate dimpling. Nicky believes in the Metasysteme Cream , which also detoxifies body fluid, aids slimming and strengthens and repairs connective tissue.

  • Multi-Day Programs

Reduce the appearance of cellulite by committing to 12, 24, 36 or 48 day regimens, which include a series of skin care products targeted to reduce cellulite. Products in Nicky's favorite program, the Ionithermie Cellulite Program , include: Tonic Silhouette , which contains potassium, salts, vitamins A,E, H and F, linden plant extract and allantoin to cleanse the body, stimulate circulation and sooth the skin. Also includes Ampoules , containing Guarana Seed that aid dispersal of trapped toxins in body fluid, and helps emulsify the fatty deposits and increases the circulation.

Stretch Marks Tips

Cause of Stretch Marks

Stretch marks arise when the skin is permanently damaged and stretched. While stretch marks are most often caused during pregnancy or puberty, they can also arise after a significant weight gain or loss or if you body build. While the only way to truly get rid of them is through laser surgery, their severity can be prevented and reduced.

  • Prevention Tips

As any doctor will tell you, prevention is the best medicine. While it's challenging to reverse the effects of stretch marks, it is possible to help prevent them. When the color of the stretch mark is red there's a better chance of reducing the permanent damage, but when it's silver in color, it's virtually impossible to remove.
  • Japanese Camellia Oil

For prevention during pregnancy (and even puberty), start applying Japanese camellia oil to the skin, which improves elasticity as the skin stretches to prevent long-term damage. Nicky recommends Elemis Japanese Camellia Oil .
