when shopping for a new gas scooter try to stick to the main brands, like goped, bladez, and evo. stay away from the china scooters, they are unsafe, break easy, and are a rip-off. i myself own a goped gsr cruiser and it is very reliable. no matter what scooter you own, there's always a chance that you will run into problems along the way. goped has the best product support in my opinion. and parts are widely available. and gopeds have a ton of aftermarket parts. when you are shopping for a used goped on ebay or any gas scooter... theres a few things to take into consideration. normally the best auctions have details and pictures. not a shortly written description and no pictures. look at the seller's feedback, try to buy from someone with positive feedback. don't buy a gas scooter totally because of speed. some people will lie about the speeds. and, you should be buying a scooter for fun and transportation, and you shouldn't worry about how fast it goes, because the faster you go, the more likely you are to fall. if the seller says 40 mph and all the scooter has is a pipe, odds are that it's not going to go 40 mph. but if it has a spindle, rc motor, pipe, and airfilter then it has a more likely chance of acheiving 35-40 mph. spindle/hard tire gopeds can't even go above 40 mph without the tires shredding. gsr's have more potential because of their 10'' air-filled tires. and are much safer at high speeds. some kids will use their parent's ebay accounts to sell their gopeds, but sometimes the gopeds they sell are in horrible condition and they are listed because they have no money to repair them. and, check with local laws to see if they are legal in your area. many places are illegal to ride on public roads. but in some area's all you need is a license. if you are looking for speed i'd suggest a goped model with air filled tires, and they are much safer. but in terms of simplicity i'd get a spindle driven goped, they are VERY easy to maintain. then lastly, please wear a helmet when riding. it's soo much safer to wear a helmet. helmets save lives. and, always pay attention when you ride. gopeds are very powerful and are not toys. they should be driven with care and caution.

if you are looking for something super quiet then get something electric like a bladez, goped, or currie. most gopeds are about as loud as a weed-eater, but with pipes they are much louder.
