This guide is help you make a decision on how to ship a sewing machine bought on Ebay. We have shipped sewing machines to every state in the USA along with Canada,Mexico,Japan,Korea,Russia,Dominican Republic,Columbia,Haiti,Hondorus,Brazil and France. There are 2 basic ways to ship a sewing machine-a ground service company such as UPS, Fed  Ex and DHL or a trucking company. Sewing machines with tables and motors must be mismantled in order to ship with a ground service- it usually takes 4 boxes to ship a complete sewing machine. Packing is very important since these boxes are sometimes dropped, thrown or who knows what else. Keep in mind that sewing machines are very delicate and are not made to withstand being thrown around.  We have become very good at packing machines over the years and still sometimes they get damaged through ground service companys. Filing a damage claim with ground service companys is not a road you want to travel. It is a mountain of paperwork and a lot of claims get denied for some reason or another. Shipping a sewing machine on a truck is a much better method of transporting delicate a sewing machine. In many cases it will cost more money to ship on a truck but, it is well worth it.- a broken machine will not make you or the seller very happy. There are some pitfalls when shipping on a truck. Trucking companys have a lot of hidden charges that most poeple do not know. It is cheapest to have the machine delivered to a business or picked up at the truck terminal- all trucking companys charge more money to ship to a home, usually between $70-$90. A business located in a home is considered a residential delivery. Also, it is the buyers responsibility to lift the machine down from the back of the truck- a truck with a liftgate  costs around $75 extra. A complete sewing machine usually weighs around 200 lbs and can be lifted off the back of the truck with 2 strong people
