this guide is for the new guy to r/c and ebay who is going to list his item on ebay for sale.
naturally you would like to list your item and get top dollar for it.
unfortunately that rarely happens. here are some of the reasons why it doesn't.
1.poor economy
2.mass produced item on sale at other retailers cheaper than your bin.
3.misimformation in the add.
4.poor quailty pics.
5.poor quality / condition item.
you and I cant control the economy or the large manufactures.
I try to buy the latest and greatest so I can be on the cutting edge at the track. You pay a penalty for this if the item was hard to get. Because you because you probably paid more to have it first. As the manufacture built more, the prices dropped.
You probably would like to get full value for all the bling or aftermarket goodies you bolted on.
This is unlikely because there are usually only a few hopups for every vehicle that truely add to the value of an item.
Titanium pins, screws, ball studs are good value items.you can recoupe much of there value.
Lots of colored aluminum splashed all over a car make it look cool, but may add wieght where a new buyer doesnt need it. And may decrease the number of buyers interested in it.
This type of blinge is better sold seperately.you will get more money for it that way.
The most important thing to remember is to prepare your car to sell just the way you expect to buy one.
Clean and in proper working condition.
In my case i sell race oriented cars, trucks so i prepare them just like im going to race them before i list them.
Every now and then a car will have stains that wont come off, this normal just as missing a spot or area with the brush when cleaning.
Use the following check list to see where your car or truck stands
1.The bearings are free
2.The diff is in good or rebuilt condition
3.No broken parts
4.Steering gear should be free
5.Tires and rims should be at least straight, new or minimal tire wear is a selling point but not necassary. (wear in my opinion has no bearing on car condition, since you will need new rubber for your area anyway)
6.Pull of all stickers off the body and wing and wash it.
7. Wash or clean the chassis tires and wheels.
Now that the car is clean and presentable take the car into some natural light and photogragh the car
1.Use a front quarter shot body on
2.Straight on body off (showing front suspension
3.Top of car straight down body off (showing chassis layout)
4.Left rear quarter body off (to show rear suspenion/transmission),
5. Bottom of car either liening or srtraight down (showing condition)
When you upload your photos be sure to correct any flaws or shadows in the picks using the ebay photo tools offered in the advanced photo option
Be honest and brief in your description
No one cares if you won a race unless you can show a picture in a magazine.
If the car tight, list it
If it has a ton of slop. list it
If the diff or shocks are fresh (rebuilt) list it.
Note the setup of the track you have been racing.(clay dirt etc.)
Set your shipping as close as you can to actual costs across the country.include handling in the cost.
0k here is the kicker.
If youve done all this is it worth it for you to sell it?
Looking for top dollar or just financing the latest and greatest?
Whats it really worth to you?
How much do you have to have out of it and not feel bad?
Do your research look up simular items.
Is yours as good as theres ? better?
If theres a price you have to have or" ill just keep it"
set a reserve.
If you want to sell it for sure, maybe for less or even more, use a no reserve auction.
This is the way i list my stuff and your welcome to visit my store or site any time.
Just check my feedback to see what ive sold lately......
I will add to this guide as time permits
