(SELLING)
Selling on ebay can be fun and profitable but there are more and more buyers out there that are looking for that free item there are a few things that you can do to make sure you don't get taken to a scam the #1 way is to get delivery conformation on every package shipped in reading some of the statements from sellers there are buyers that will recieve an item and then goto paypal file claim that it was not recieved if the seller cannot prove delivery such as delivery or signature confirmation buyer wins every time shipping through paypal allows you to choose these options including insurance delivery conformation is 18 cents through paypal which is cheaper than post office most times (2nd) way to protect your self is feedback don't stop at first page reading comments go two or three pages to see if there are any comments about non payment if there are too many !contact the buyer give them a deadline to call or bid will be cancelled if no response cancel bid and block ID !unfortunately most of these people will bid at very end of auction and win if this happens you will have to file unpaid item dispute don't just let it go and move on! file the dispute (wait) the 8 days for the dispute to end you will get a final value fee credit witch is much less than listing fees but the buyer will get a strike on there ebay account three strikes there out! unfortunately a lot of sellers don't want to wait the 8 days to relist or offer second chance offer but these buyers will continue to do this as long as there account is open
#3 never never send any item no matter what with out a cleared check or money order there are a lot of fake money orders and cashiers checks out there i have also heard of buyers cancelling payment as soon as they find out that item was shipped so make sure you have cleared funds even if buyer needs to wait a little extra time and another thing is only ship to address buyer has on ebay no drop ship eg (ship to sons house for birthday gift let buyer know you cannot do that as it will void buyer and seller protection through ebay must ship to address on file i have found that many of these scams have involved the uk bogus mo casiers checks and so on
there are a few other ways to protect your self such as awareness and high dollar items insurance should be required not optional most buyers don't take insurance to save a little extra money but if item is lost or damaged even though they did not take insurance they will give the seller grief for it
hopefully this will help make your selling experience a good one on ebay
