"HOW TO...?" miniature realistic lifelike doll eyes from ''dolls by nadiia''
Thank you all for being so interested in my artwork!
First I make a little round ball of white polymer clay about 7mm in diameter. Then using a 2mm ball-shaped stylus tool, I press a little dent about 1.5mm deep into the white of the "eyeball". Then I bake this for 15 minutes to make the ball hard. Now using a super thin brush (00), I paint the iris to look like a real iris. Every one is a little bit different so I have to make about 10 eyes to find 2 that match. The paint I use is a heat-set oil paint that cures, so then I need to bake it again. After it cools down, I place a little drop of clear "Fimo" liquid over the little painted dent to make the lens of the eye. The liquid Fimo contains air bubbles sometimes, so I have to use a sewing needle to pop them. After I see that the lens is free of air bubbles, I can bake it again for the last time. :) Now we have a tiny little eyeball!
I need to mention that I use a really powerful magnifying glass to see all of the details.
