"An E-bay Guide for Buying & Selling Coins"

Buying and selling coins on E-bay can be fun, exciting, a little

frightening at times, and, as we all desire, profitable, too.

When I decided to get into this, I already was interested in

coins, but had never experienced it on this scale.  Here are

a few suggestions I would recommend to help the beginner

in his first attempts at this adventure:

       1.  Try to think about what coins you want to specialize in

buying and selling(pennies, silver dollars, State quarters,

etc.), and do most of your buying in that select field.

       2.  On the E-bay home page, in the left column choose the

catagory "coins and currancy."  Browse through the

pages, and see what you can find of interest.  Click on

you like, and be sure to read about what kind of payment

methods the seller accepts(check, money order, paypal,

           etc.).

       3.  To zero in on what you like and cut out what you are not

interested in, type in your search field "pennies, or State

quarter rolls, or whatever coins you desire most.  It

will take you to several choices.  You may also want to

check the seller's feedback to make sure he sells good

            quality items.

        4.  Be sure and read the item description, to see if it is real,

or a duplicate.  Also, check the quality, as to whether

it is proof, MS-65, or so forth.  This matters a lot when

             you consider value.

        5.  I recommend you purchasing  the "Red Book", or some

other coin value guide to help you decide whether or not

to purchase the item.  When selling, check to see what

other coins like the ones you chose are selling for.

        6.  Don't get in too big a hurry, especially when you are

in a bidding contest with another buyer.  You may

make some mistake, and put in the wrong purchase

amount, and regret it later.  I usually wait until the last

couple of minutes or more to make my final bid.

Sometimes I win, sometimes I loose.  That's the nature

            of the game.

        7.  You just may come across a real "winner" sometime.

The coin may be very valuable.  I like to purchase

"error" coins also.  They interest me a lot.

Also, you can go to a seller's store and find more interesting

items that you will like.  You can even type in the year coin and

type, and get results that way also, for instance -"1848 Carson

  City Silver Dollars."

Happy hunting!!!, and I hope you and I both find that

hidden treasure that is there waiting for us.
