After buying and selling on Ebay for 9 years , my worst experiences come from people with poor packaging skills.Skimping on packaging material (bubble wrap, styrofoam peanuts, shredded paper, etc) and trying to squeeze items in boxes too small are sure to result in a damaged item.A little effort and time will prevent heads, bills, necks, and tails from becoming chipped, cracked and broken.A little common sense is also helpful. My suggestions are:
Wrap the decoy in soft tissue paper.Next wrap generous bubble wrap around it.Padding the head/ bill is also a good idea.Make sure your box is larger by a few inches all around the decoy. I had one ebayer pack a decoy ($1600 pair of Strunks) in a box so tight that when there was pressure on the box it cracked the neck.MAKE sure there is packing material(peanuts, shredded paper, etc.) all around the decoy .This includes top, bottom, and sides. If there is any pressure on the box from any direction there should be some give so the decoy will not become damaged.
Write FRAGILE in red ink all over the box. The post office is required to handle these with extra care.Good luck and happy ebaying!
