My family jokes that I am the "coupon queen" because sometimes when I shop I save as much as half off my total, just by using coupons. It is LOTS of work for me, but it stretches the money I have budgeted for shopping. Here are two things that are have been a big help to me in saving, every little bit helps, right?
1. Many shoppers are not aware that they CAN use two coupons at once in certain circumstances. If one of the coupons is a STORE coupon, and the other is a MANUFACTURER coupon, they CAN be combined to purchase one item.
2. When my son was an infant I was receiving lots and lots of those formula "checks" in the mail. I didn't ever need them, my son nursed through his infancy. So, I would pick out the least expensive variety of the formula that I had a check for. (Many times the checks were for $6 to $9 and a qualifing item would be about $3.) Then, when I checked out, the value of the check was deducted from my total, regardless of how much the qualifing item was. So, my total was often reduced by $4 or more, (above and beyond the cost of the formula.) It was like money off of the items that I did need to purchase. In addition, a similar "two coupon rule" applies for formula purchases. If you have a formula check and a manufacturers coupon, they can be used together to purchase one item. I did this MANY MANY times at stores like Target, without any problems, and it's perfectly legit. (I didn't feel bad about doing it because I would then DONATE the formula that I "purchased" (and got for free) to a group that helps women with children. They got free formula and I got money off my other purchases.
I hope that this information was helpful. Lots of people know these things, but, I wrote this for the folks who haven't yet discovered them.
And that's my two cents. (LOL, I am laughing at myself as I was type this....NO PUN INTENDED, lol.)
Get it? Coupons? Saving Money? My Two Cents? ha. ha. ha.
Have a great day!
