NO! STOP!
It's true! It's really that pretty. Too bad being pretty isn't what makes a cooling pad practical!
This cooling pad looks great in the pictures. For the price, it is unbeatable. I decided it was worth a try. It couldn't hurt. So I went and purchased one. As promised, the blue led's are bright and pretty. Although the plastic is cheap and flimsy (very easily breakable), the three fans are not at all noisy, and put out a nice flow of air, cooling an otherwise overheating laptop. As I am searching online, I feel the common desire to use the "laptop" as it was intended - in my lap.
I suddenly realize this cooling pad has a fatal ergonomic flaw - one that all the above pictures do a very good job at hiding: look closely to the rear of the cooling pad. You will see it is not a "pad" at all, but rather more of a "stand". At the rear there are two legs which elevate the fans, at a downward angle from back to front, off the table. This is highly impractical - virtually useless - if you intend to us this on your lap -- unless of course you like each leg to be stabbed at a dull point with the entire weight of your laptop.
There are only two real solutions, and neither are effective. One is to try to avoid the problem by moving it to the right or left; problem is that at the bottom the fans are exposed and when in contact with anything - such as your pant legs - the fans stop, thus eliminating the cooling benefit. Now all you have is pretty lights underneath and three burning-up fan motors. The other possible solution has a similar effect. You can turn the thing upside-down; although now it is flat on your legs, it does not have that cooling benefit (which is the whole reason you bought it), once again.
Further, after about a month or so, provided the flimsy plastic has not cracked or broken on you yet, the cheaply done wiring soon gives up. As of today my cooling pad no longer turns on.
This is all not to mention that the possibility of portability is utterly nonexistent.
Overall, this is a great, cheap, pretty, laptop cooling pad, IF - and only "if" you intend to only use it under your laptop on your desk, and never intend to move it. In that case, it should last, and get you some nice comments from your friends because it is pretty when on. Also as long as it is on a desk, it provides a nice draft of air that effectively cools the laptop. Another use is to leave it plugged into a USB port from your desktop, as decoration because it is pretty. It also might cool your room about 1 or 2 degrees over time.
Take my advice from experience: if you are intending to use this for any other reason, you should definitely keep looking!
