I listed my 3 year old Dell laptop for sale with a starting price of $200. Within a day and out of the blue I had a message from a buyer who was willing to pay me $800 for my laptop. I was intrigued and surprised since there are thousands of laptops listed. Anyway I asked this buyer where he was located since I was only willing to ship within the USA. He said Texas so I was fine with that. I set up paypal and he said that he sent the money even though paypal said that the payment was pending. He told me to check my email. I had a message on email that said that I would receive my payment after I sent paypal the tracking number for the package. I have since found out that paypal will not withhold funds from a legitimate buyer. When I asked the buyer what the address was, he gave me an address in Nigeria. After saying that he was in Texas, I asked how he could be in Nigeria and he said that he was there visiting relatives. After going to reviews and guides I saw a sentence that said it all. DO NOT BUY OR SELL TO NIGERIA. Somehow these buyers are getting ahold of stolen credit cards and making purchases. Once you send the item in the mail, you receive a message that the payment is being denied because it was made on a stolen credit card. So beware and do not sell to anyone giving a Nigeria address. The Nigerian thieves seem to really be targeting computers and laptops.
