Charging
Your iPod is made by Apple. For this reason we recommend using Apple branded chargers and cables. Many other brands may not provide the same level of protection against power surges. Especially car chargers. If you do decide to use an off brand, check to see if they cover the damages in cases or product failure.
Batteries
The batteries used in your iPod are lithium ion batteries. Lithium ion batteries are some of the smallest ad long lasting batteries available. That is why they are used in your iPod. Unfortunately, they start to lose there length after a while.
When you have your iPod returned to you, your battery may have little to no charge. Before you use your iPod, we recommend fully charging your iPod, then allowing it to fully discharge before recharging. This allows the iPod to calibrate the battery meter. We recommend you do this once every month. In between, you may charge the iPod whenever you choose.
Usage
If your iPod is a Hard drive based iPod, we recommend that you do not use it during vigorous activity. Frequent movement, vibration, or shaking of the hard drive may cause premature failure of the disc.
For those activities that may warrant such movement, the use of a flash based iPod is recommended. Such as an iPod nano or shuffle.
Liquid Damage
In the unfortunate situation that your iPod should come in contact with liquid, there a few steps that may help and prevent or minimize damage to your iPod.
First, do not turn the unit on. At all. If it is wet inside, when you turn your iPod on the electric current could short circuit connections and burn out components.
The second most important thing is to dry the iPod as quickly as possible. If you can get it open, do so, and use an electronic safe cleaner such as highly concentrated alcohol, to clean it. Then dry it thoroughly. The longer it is wet the more damage may occur. You may try laying it your the dashboard of your car in the sunlight.
Occasionally you may have trouble with your iPod/iPhone. Please take a moment to try the 6 R’s.
Reset
First, toggle the hold switch, then press and hold the MENU button the the center SELECT button. The Apple logo will appear. I some cases it may take up to 10 seconds. Occasionally you will need to repeat this step.
Retry
Retry attaching your iPod to a different USB port. If possible, try connecting it using a different USB cable.
Restart
Try restarting your computer. This is often an easy fix.
Reinstall
Sometimes it could just be a problem with iTunes. It may have had a problem during installation, or your version could be out of date. Try reinstalling the latest version of iTunes directly from Apple.
