Hey Folks ... I keep getting questions about this so I'm going to try my best to give you some of the best buying tips when it comes to selecting a digital music player.
CHECK THE AMOUNT OF MEMORY
This may seem very simple, but a lot of folks get caught up in how much the player costs and they forget to check the storage capacity (memory). You think you just got a great deal because you only paid $40USD for a MP4 Player with video and you now realize it was a 512Mb version and doesn't include a SD card slot to increase your memory availability. And some sellers will have a title like "iPod type Nano mp4 Player Device 1gb / 2gb / 4gb" .... and because we searched for an "ipod 2gb", we automatically assume that's what we're seeing. Read the item description very carefully and ask questions about missing information.
CHECK THE BONUSES / FREE ITEMS / INCLUDED ACCESSORIES
Let's face it ... your iPod Nano isn't really all that useful without a charger or the dock or usb cable. If you're buying a player, be sure the seller has specified "EXACTLY" what's included in the sale. It's easy to get excited about a good deal, but is it really a good deal if the item doesn't include all the required or even standard accessories.
RESEARCH THE QUALITY OF THE ITEM
Many sellers offer off-brand MP3 and MP4 players (which is fine), but be sure to research the actual quality of the player before you commit to a bid or purchase. Even most off-brand players will have an item number so you can read reviews about the particular item. And even though many of the MP3 / MP4 players look very similar on the outside, they can be very different internally.
BE SURE YOU'RE BIDDING / PURCHASING A PLAYER
Some sellers will have an accessory listed like "Apple iPod Nano 4gb Clear Silicon Case". Again, we may be mistaken and think we're bidding or purchasing the actual player, when in reality the seller is just listing the "Clear Silicon Case", which could be used for an "Apple iPod Nano 4gb". In some cases eBay might consider this "keyword spamming", but in any event we need to keep our guard up as buyers and be sure we know exactly what we're buying.
CHECK THE AUDIO / VIDEO / PICTURE FORMATS
Be sure your new player will support your desired file formats. There is nothing more frustrating than getting a brand new player and being unable to use it how you intended. If a seller doesn't list the item specifications ask him/her to provide them or move on to another seller / item.
TAKE YOUR TIME
What all of this boils down to is that you need to remain calm and take your time "ANYTIME" you make a purchase. Don't make an uneducated impulse purchase without understanding some of the possible ramifications of doing so and then try blaming the seller later. When there are so many players and time is flying by so quickly you can easily be swept into thinking time is running out. TIME IS NOT "RUNNING OUT". Be calm, research, know your products and that way you can buy quickly & intelligently.
