With the advent of the internet I find that more  and more people are finding used and rebuilt parts on ebay. Then they get the parts in and almost complete the repair but find they get stumped by how the thing comes apart or they install the parts and the machine is still doing what it did before they worked on it. Many times I am asked what I found when I go behind some of these repairs and my reply is increasingly more frequently "they've been working on it". Many times I'll have to repair their attemp to repair the thing themselves before I can dianose the real problem. If they had only got a little help with troubleshooting the problem it might have saved them lots of money , not to mention lost use of the machine while pursuing the wrong fix. That is where I come into the picture. I talk for hours some days at my present job to customers fishing for information to try to make  repairs themselves , tring to avoid the high cost of having me come to their jobsite and fix it for them. They will be certain that their problem is one thing , but they will be totally off track and the answer I give or remedy I suggest will be rejected because it seems to simple. That is just my point. KISS , is an acronym they taugh me years ago that stand for " keep it simple stupid". People often think that a problem is some sort of rare exotic and complicated condition that requires some equally exotic fix, when all along it needed a new fuel filter or a wire simply got unplugged. I am trying to start an online virtual troubleshooting service that will try to focus self-repair people in the right direction and maybe save them time and money before they go off after that rare exotic complicated fix. Kind of like getting an online second opinion. For a while I will be offerring advice for free to see if this concept will work and if it will be profitable to spend the time doing. For now my best advice is to look before you leap into self repairs by being sure your making the correct repair and not just chasing a symptom that could be caused by something else alot cheeper and easier to do first.
