I have had a Honda eu 1000 generator for abt. 5 years. It "was" great to use and I used it frequently at a cabin on a Texas bay. It was quite, light, used little fuel and needed little upkeep. I had paid right at $700 for it when it came out. It now runs with a very high rpm and noisey because a part called the inverter unit has gone out. This is suppose to be the electronic brains and heart of the system. Now I've paid the authorized repair dealer $50 to tell me this and to quote a price for the part. The inverter unit part was quoted at, get this, $749. I can buy a new Honda eu 1000 for $695. Tell me how this makes since. Honda is just ripping off its customers. If you don't believe me just try and get part # 31310-ZT3-C-32. I am now searching for a burned up unit so I can canniblize it for the part. Also, I am going to buy an almost identical generator with better stats $50 cheaper - the Yamaha 1000. Adios- Honda!
