Hi I'm Andi McClure and i recently posted a guide of doing some research on Cobalt Mineral and it's uses and Crystal Sapphire what it is and what else is it used for besides glass?
I love the library and it turns out that my 2 yr. old son loves it as much as I do, but in a different, terroristic way. He made his rounds and raised a few eyebrows, Mom hot on his trail, cuz i said my kid would'nt act like an animal when we went places. I was a different person then. . .
I didn't find much in the way of the Cobalt mineral. In glass making, it is a "vitreous form of cobalt oxide. Small quantities of the coloring agent were simply added to the glass mixture." 'Colored Glass: The Collector's World in Color' by: Derek C. Davis & Keith Middlemas. Hence the Cobalt coloring is a mixture of Cobalt Oxide and Copper. It is stated that this method was done in the 1800's, and a popular name then was "Bristol".
Nothing on Crystal Sapphire, doesn't mean it's not out there. So just a little update for my Dear Readers and possible Future Customers.
