any fire suppression system (ansul, pyrochem, kidde, range guard and amerex, and all dry chem kitchen fire systems) mfg before december 1994... DO NOT... meet the ul 300 standard . This standard has been adopted by nfpa 17 and 17a and 96 and states:
(systems mfg before dec. 1994 do not meet current codes and will NOT be allowed to be used in kitchens requiring a fire suppression system)
(systems mfg before dec. 1994 do not meet current codes and will NOT be allowed to be used in kitchens requiring a fire suppression system)
In a nut shell, it is unlawful and dangerous to use a pre ul300 system in resturant hoods. Ask for the year of mfg. before you purchase a system that you may find unusable, and lose your money and the time and effort to install AND remove it when the fire marshall says"sorry , it,s not a ul 300 system."......regards.......a licensed system installer with 20 years in the industry.
