Trailer hitches are not all alike nor are those that sell them. A couple things you need to look for. One, what is the hitch rated to tow? Bigger is not better. You can spend a lot of money on a strong hitch; only to find out your vehicle cannot handle that much weight. Two, look at the design. Some hitches are nothing more than pieces of steel. However, some look great. Often the hitch can be hidden. Three, is the hitch new? If not, forget any warranty. Only the original purchaser retains the warranty in most cases. Four, does the hitch come with the mounting hardware.
Secondly, consider the seller. Avoid any seller that has flat rates for shipping. It is a sham. Hitches are heavy and cost a varying amount to ship. Any seller that has a flat shipping rate is using that rate to gouge you with too much profit. As with any seller, look at what the seller is really in business to sell. If you are looking for a reputable trailer hitch seller, make sure hitches is their main line and not just a small fraction of what they list. And consider the percentage of positive comments the seller has.
