I hope I can catch those of you out there who choose to bid on items from these guys The Rice Paddy Columbus, OH At about this time of the year (several years ago now in March), I bid on and won a chrome stator cover for my 1982 honda sabre. In their email to me the following day, they said the item would be shipped on the 'same day' the payment was received. I sent a money order five days after the auction was over. Until April 18th I was receiving emails indicating that I had not payed for the item won which culminated in them opening a dispute against me (even though I had a statement from my bank indicating that they had cashed my money order in mid to late March). Anyway, after much grief and waiting, on April 18th I received the following message by email "I received your payment for $46.75. Thank you!" After the usual waiting time, I actually received the product. In the meantime, I left a negative feedback - nothing personal but appropriate. I believed it was justified. Then I get a negative in return from them saying that I didnt pay, and that I was was 'no good'. They indicated that they did not list as selling to international customers (I'm from Canada), but I ALWAYS check with sellers by email to make sure they are OK with shipping to me. Rice Paddy said they would ship to me (and, in fact they did). Anyway, the story continues. I receive the part. I install the part. The part has a flaw and leaks oil from a hairline crack in the body of the cover (not at any seal or gasket). I called to ask if I could return it for a replacement. They agreed that it would be ok. I sent it back to them by mail. It is more than one year later and I have not received anything from them... not a replacement part, not an email.... nothing. I reported them to the BBB in Columbus, and the internet fraud squad. Just watch out for them. If you can get the part elsewhere...do so. There's another bike place in Columbus (coincidentally) which is GREAT called Classic Cycle Parts. Use them instead. You'll be glad you did. UPDATE June 26/06: Well, a very helpful reader of my guide suggested I contact the Attorney general of the state. I did so and the Attorney Generals Office responded within a matter of days.. to me anyway. They said they would contact the seller and mediate a solution. But if the seller didnt think they were in the wrong there was not much that could be done. Oh well. Couldnt hurt to try. Thank you all for reading my review. NEW UPDATE September 23/06: Recently received an email from the Attorney General indicating that The Rice Paddy did not respond to them. So, there is little more I can do with them. However, another helpful reader (Thanks Gene), pointed out something called 'The implied Warranty of Merchantability which means that at the time of sale, the item must be fit for it's intended use. The crack in my cover would apparently have made it un-fit for use as an oil cover and as such I should be offered a new one or a refund. Again, according to Gene, you must allow the seller the opportunity to correct the problem but in my case, it is way past the time limit. 30 days would have been enough barring the possibility that they had to get another one. I was advised to remind your Attorney Generals Office Rep. about the Implied Warranty of Merchantability or ask about a similr law, which I did. Unfortunately, the response from the Attorney General representative was that they were not lawyers but also suggested filing in small claims court. Thank you all for reading my review. Be careful out there. Ask TONS of questions before you bid and if you have any doubts, steer clear. Deal with people who are willing to talk to you and those with a reputation of fair play. FINAL NOTE: Don't trust ratings entirely... they might give you a general idea about the seller or buyer, but often bad ratings are mutually removed by both parties... I chose to leave mine on when Rice Paddy requested a mutual removal to ensure that they continued to have my negative rating. Once again, thanks for reading and voting! ADDITIONAL UPDATE: I have had a chance to read a few of the other individuals who claim to have had great experiences with the Rice Paddy. To them, I say fantastic! Keep dealing with them and best of luck. The main point of my guide to buying with them was - as an International Purchaser! The Rice Paddy was a poor international seller in my case. No question! Why? Likely because they realize that they can get away with it. Furthermore, ALL PURCHASERS, no matter how small or how much of a 'newbie' they may be, deserve to be treated with respect, and DO NOT deserve to be reamed by any seller, no matter how small the order. It had become obvious to me that The Rice Paddy DOES NOT CARE about me as an international seller and small purchaser, and as a business person myself, this is BAD BUSINESS no matter which way you slice it. My point was also to let this seller know that even if I did not get the refund to which I am legally entitled, that I would continue to remind them of their fault... AND especially to catch other potential buyers before they ran into the same problem. If I am wrong in doing so... then I guess Ill just have to live with that. : ) 11/12/2006 UPDATE. I just read a guide written by someone from the RICE PADDY (or so it would seem), apparently intended to make mine seem less useful to those who have read it. In his diatribe, he indicated that 'used parts' (and new old stock) were just that... used...and as such, the implied warranty does not fit this situation. Ok... I can understand that. Having said that, the part I purchased was not used according to the seller. If thats the case, then RICE PADDY misrepresented themselves by selling a used part as a new one. I guess bad shops have to find excuses to justify their behaviour. Anyway, keep reading the reviews, and continue to use your best judgement before ordering from some jokers you don't know. No matter what, buyer beware. Like I mentioned previously, there are apparently many people who had great experiences with the RICE PADDY. I DID NOT!...and because they made no effort as a seller to rectify that, it is my responsibility (and will be in the future) to ensure that others were made aware of potential problems, and were forewarned should they choose to purchase anything from RICE PADDY.  Thanks to all who have responded favorably to my posting here by the way...and even those who have not responded so well as I tend to learn a great deal from them too.
