Same known scam: The seller posted a listing and advised to contact him before bidding. I contacted the seller and the listing disappeared from Ebay within hours. I requested pictures and a phone number, so we can discuss details over the phone. I never received a phone call or even the sellers phone number. He was evasive to all my questions and ensured me that everything would be handled thorugh the Ebay Vehicle Protection Program and that he would pay for shipping. If I am not satisfied with the car, he would even pay for the shipping back to him. We started the transaction and he mailed me 3 very offical looking emails with creative we stole from the Ebay Vehicle Protection Program. I almost got fooled, but I noticed that the funds were to be transferred to an account in Canada, to an account that is held by "Zoard's Transportation". I got very suspicious about this and started to investigate. I noticed that the 3 fake Ebay emails were sent from a domain "vehicle-protection-program.com. THis domain is held by Omega Star GmbH and not Ebay or an affiliate. Which made me even more suspicious. Later that day I received a email notification that the Canadian account that i was supposed to trasnfer my funds to was "over the limit" and that instead I should trasnfer the funds to an account in Hungary. I know of many other people that were advised in various similar scams to transfer funds to an Hungarian account. Here is my email correspondence (in reverse chronological order; please scroll down to the very bottom and start reading upwards): You figure it out all wrong! The car is not a replica and was built in 1965. It has A Shelby COBRA 427 Replica Package. All the car's documentation are with the car and it will be sent along with the car. The title is with my  name of it and this vehicle is registered as an antique vehicle. I've attached all the pictures I have. If you want the car I will need your ok about starting the transaction but if you will pass just let me know I have others in line waiting to get such a beautiful car for a such a cheap price.   Michael   On 11/23/06, Buyer (myself) wrote: Ok, understand. But this car is a replica. It wasn't built in 1965. Anyhow...is there any other way your are aware of how I can verify the title and that you are the rightful owner of the car? -----Original Message----- From: nrlbqa@gmail.com To: Buyer (myself) Sent: Wed, 22 Nov 2006 9:30 PM Subject: Re: Interested in Cobra    The carfax rapport doesn't run for cars older then 1981 as manufacturer year. Yes, I would like to see all pictures you have of the car, as requested in my last 3 emails to you. I also think it would save us both a lot of time, if we could talk on the phone. If you don't feel comfortable to talk over the phone, could you please answer all questions from my last email? Also: what is the VIN number so I can run a CarFax on the car. The Ebay Vehicle Protection Plan is to provide buyers with added confidence that a passenger vehicle purchased on eBay Motors is accurately described in the listing, and to protect buyers if the actual vehicle condition is materially different from the listing description. I need a description from you about the car. Please call me or at least send me the pictures and a detailed desciption of car, as well as answer my questions, so we can finally move on to the transaction. Thank you! I want to sell it now without listing it again and paying the eBay fees again, but of course I accept the deal to take place only through eBay. Regards, Michael P.S. I can send some details of the red cobra if you are still interested and some pictures On 11/22/06, Buyer (myself) wrote: Hello Michael! Thank you for outlining the procedure for me. I am excited about the deal, but I would really like to talk to you in person about the car and would like to see more pictures. I could not find the auction on Ebay anymore. Did you take it down? Can you send me a link with more pictures or at least the old ones and a couple of side shots (I only saw front and back shots). Could you please call me at your convenience? I am available under this number from 8 am to 11 pm: xxx-xxx-xxxx Here are some questions that I would like to discuss: 1) Are you the original owner? If not, how long have you owned the car? 2) When did you last drive the car and how frequently? 3) What repairs have been made and what repairs are to be expected soon (brakes? clutch? axle?) 4) In what city is the car right now? I could possibly ask someone to check out the car on my behalf. 5) You mentioned that the engine runs "good". How about the rest of the car? 6) Is this the original car or a kit car? 7) What exact engine is in the car? 8) Have donor parts be used to replace original parts? Which ones? It would be easiest to have a brief conversation to discuss everything. Thank you so much and I look forward to a quick transaction. Here is how the process works: - you give me your shipping address, - I start a transaction on eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection, - they send you the payment instructions, - you send the money, - they confirm me that they secured the funds, - I send it to you, - you receive and accept it, - they pay me. If the car is not like described you will have to ship it back in 30 business days on my expense, but I am sure that you will love it. If you agree please send me your full name and shipping address! Sorry for the inconvenience, but I can not find the auction on ebay anymore. Do you mind sending me the auction number or a link? Thank you! Danyel -----Original Message----- From: nrlbqa@gmail.com To: Seller (myself) Sent: Mon, 20 Nov 2006 11:09 AM Subject: Re: Interested in Cobra Hello First of all I must inform you that I'm located in Vancouver, Canada. I recently moved here with my job and I had the intention to take the car with me in order to register it and keep it, but I discovered that it is very hard to register a muscle car here and the taxes are very high. Not to mention that here the gasoline is much expensive here. So, unfortunately, I had to leave the car in the US. The PRICE is $6,400.00. The car is in excellent condition. It has no scratches on and hasn't been involved in an accident. The motor runs very well. The car was always garaged. The car is still US registered and the title is clear. The car is in US at the shipping company and it is ready to be shipped. The SHIPPING will be made by DAS Auto Shippers. The delivery will take between 7 and 10 working days (with insurance and 30 days return policy). I WILL PAY FOR THE SHIPPING! If the car does not matches 100% the description, you will return it in maximum 30 days and I will pay for the return shipping fees. PAYMENT will be made through eBay so we can be both protected! If you agree with my above terms, I'm sure that we can close the deal as soon as possible. I have reserved the car for you until I will have your final answer. Thank you, Michael Lin On 11/20/06, Buyer (myself) wrote: Good evening! I am very interested in the Cobra you are offering on Ebay. The price seems unusual for a car in this condition. Where is the hook? I am very interested in purchasing this vehicle, if the technical condition matches the cosmetic condition. Please email me to both my work account and my private email account, because I can only check my work account during the day and only my private account at night: Private: xxxx Work: xxxx Thank you!
