My husband and I are new at ebaying here is our story after being members for only 5 days.
We were looking to by a boat and decieded to look on ebay. We found a boat for sale and placed a bid in the amount of $7400.00. After several days we lost the bid. The next evening we received an e-mail (not thru ebay) stating we could buy the boat for $7400.00 please note the highest bid was $16,600.with the reserve not met.We e-mailed the buyer and said we were very interested. He told us he could sell the boat for that price because the last bidder at $16,600.00 changed his mind do to an illness and that the boat was already on the shipping trailer. He kept making the deal better and better telling us he would cover the shipping charges ect. We then received a confirmation letter from what appeared to be from ebay's vehicle protection program it was an EXACT replica of what ebay motors web site format looked like. It even had a confirmation I.D number. The fake website said they would hold all funds until we received the boat and was 100% satisfied. Keep in mind he had the correct item number and description. We thought WOW ebay is even better then we ever could have expected! At the point of sending this fraud $7400.00 cash through a money gram I remembered reading something about everything you receive in your personnal e-mail should also be in your ebay mail.
I checked my ebay mail and nothing. We then reported this to eaby and found that this was a very high tech fraud scam using templates from ebays web sites!
Lesson's learned NEVER pay thru money grams and always check your ebay mail. Lastly....if its to good to be true it is!
We hope this helps even one person from lossing to dishonest scam professional's!
