I found out a couple of weeks ago that taking a road trip instead of paying an enormous amount of shipping costs ended up being pretty cool and we had a great time. I bought a Suzuki GS1100 from a guy in Oklahoma City off of eBay and I live outside of Memphis. Just for kicks, I checked out what it would cost to ship a bike to me if he was willing to put up with the hassels of crating it. It was about $600.00!!!!! So my 19 year old son and I decided to just make a ROAD TRIP of it. (He was going to help me do some of the driving) We left in the middle of the night and, needless to say, he lasted for about the first thirty minutes. Then it was off to sleep for him. So, I occupied my time with 100+ channels on my Sirius sattelite. I listened to more crazy stuff in that 8 hours than I have in a while. When we got there, he finally woke his butt up and helped load the bike. We talked with the seller (Frullo..ebay name) for a little bit (great guy) and then headed home. He tried that nodding thing again but I wasn't going for it. We stopped and got a bite to eat and then spent the rest of the time talking. We've always been kinda tight but, when you're stuck that close together for that long, then you tend to learn a few things that you thought you knew, but really, really didn't. WOW!!!!These times, they are a changing. I was pretty sure that I was Hip and In with what's REALLY going on. WRONG...And it's not like I'm an old man or something, Me and his mom had him when we were pretty young. We listen to alot of the same music and do alot of the same things. I've, how do you say; been there, done that....SURPRISE!!!!!!Been there, done PART of that...I learned alot in those eight hours and wouldn't change it for the world.
So, the point is....Save yourself some money on shipping costs and take a little road trip with just you and your kid. (just one at a time..you wouldn't want to over do it and stress out all at once) Have a good time and get close to your kid again. You'll be glad you did...(I think) GOOD LUCK AND SAVE BUCKS
