Let's face it there are many claims out there about the off brand Scooters/Bikes/Mopeds/Motorcycles that have flooded the US market over the past few years.  Sellers posting innaccurate information about how fast a bike goes, or it's ability to get X number of miles to a gallon.  The biggest mispreprentation is that the bike is DOT/EPA/CARB Approved. 

There are ways of checking out this information for accuracy.  Some government websites such as by typing into Google or any other search engine the word CARB you will find their site.  Looking under Executive Orders Links area for information can be a big help.  This site is the CA. Air Resources Board official governement website.  Keep in mind though that the website is not always 100 percent up to date and that to be sure that the bike is legal in CA. and has the CARB approval you should call them with the name of the bike manufacturer. You can look up DOT site by Googling that as well.

When wanting to purchase an off brand bike be sure to know your seller is telling the truth.  Investigate the information by using key word searches for the same product name or model number on your search engine.  Remember the best price does npt always mean the best deal for you.  Would you rather pay a few hundred less for the same name brand but have zero customer support or service if you have a problem, or would you prefer a seller that made some money off you but yet gave you great customer service if you had an issue?  If you chose the first one then you may not be a wise shopper but most people can understand the concept of the idea that if the seller made no money there is no incentive to take care of you the buyer.  Don't be fooled by people either just because they seem legit.  

Many sellers on eBay are legit, but it never hurts to do your home work and check them out.  Many small businesses have a web site.  We do and a toll free number as well.  We are also a member of the Better Business Bureau.  A scammer will not go to these lengths to steal money, but rather would try and get you to send untraceable funds such as a Money Order, Money Gram, Cashiers Check, Money Order, or even a Personal Check once it has been cashed, and cleared leaves you in a terrible bind.  By looking at a Sellers feedback you can tell much about them.  I have personally reported 100's of phony items being sold on eBay where the aucton was listed under a persons account who had not even used there account in a year or two or they have never sold anthing only bought stuff and now there is 20 items under their user account up for sale at an unbelievable low price or with no reserve.  This happens on eBay frequently where scammers will clone another sellers listing and then put a buy it now proce for $5-6-7K on it when it is a $20K plus vehicle.  These people will also take over another person's account was done through a phony email asking the account owner to update their info by clicking on a link.  The scammers have gone far above and beyond this though to steal your account info, and gain access to your eBay account or even better for them your papyal account as well if you have the same password to both accounts.  The phony emails range from a false unpaid item reminder to an offer to buy your product outside of eBay to an item not received complaint.  Protect yourself and info do not ever answer a second chance offer that does not appear in your eBay My Messages folder.  Never respond to any email whether it is a threat to report you to eBay for non-payment of an item, a threat to report you for not sending an item, a request to update your info on eBay, or any email that cannot be found by physically typing in the www.eBay.com domain name to your browser and logging in directly through the eBay site.  If the message does not appear in the my messages folder then it did not come from eBay, or an eBay member.  If it does appear there then respond to it through the eBay system.  Also watch for accounts with no feedback trying to scam you.  See our other reveiw on eBay scams.

DOT means it is Department of Transportation Approved by the USA Department of Transportation. EPA means it is approved by the Environmental Protection Agency.  If CARB Approvals have been issued it is a pretty good bet that this meets and surpasses all other states codes although CARB approval is only required in CA.  Most companies products can be checked out for CARB approval on the CA. state government web site.

As for Titles.  Some states replace the COO/MSO/MCO or whatever you may find it called with their own state title one such as OH. they bar code all of their titles, so our MCO which stands for Manufacturers Certificate Of Origin they take, and destroy but it must be presented when applying for registration and titling.

Going to sources that have no idea about imported products will get you information that is not accurate, and can be misleading.  All of the TANK brand products have Honda Tooled Engines.  What this means is that our engine manufacturer purchased expiring Honda engine patents directly from Honda with full reproduction support, and that coupled with the huge buying power of our engine kanufacturing company allowed us to purchase engines with Honda quality, but at a much lower reporduction cost than Honda themselves could have produced the same engine for directly.  Making all of our products production cost exceptionally lower thereby allowing us to make a more affordable price to our dealers + customers with some very good quality added to them.
