As out beloved GTO's get older,(much like the rest of us),more and more seem to appear. It is easy to spot a fake if the car is a 66-71 as those years the GTO had a Different Vin than the lemans or tempest. The first 3 numbers of the vin would be would be 242. Also pontiac did not offer the GTO in a post model 1968-1971.So if you walk up to a 68 -71 that is a post car .....get back in your car and go home.....it is a fake. If you are looking at a GTO that is a 64 65 or a 72-74.....dont take the owners word for it. Spend the $$ and have the car documented. 50.00 could save you a small fortune. Just search pontiac historical or PHS on the web and it should be the first site on the list.
