This is a insider guide (warning) about the CCS (cheap chinese scooters). I know a company that sells these, my nieghbor works for them. I made the mistake of buying some of thier garbage. Thankfully I know the guy on the inside, he'd steal the parts off other working units to fix mine.

My warning is DO NOT buy a cheap chinese scooter off of eBay.

They are garbage. If it runs when you get it, it is unlikely to pass the 2000 mile mark before breaking down. Good luck with parts. If you can get them, I hope your a mechanic. Go back and read the warranty, most of them don't come with labor warranties. That doesn't matter anyway, because it is hard to find a shop that is even willing to work on a cheap chinese scooter.

Why don't you try to find a mechanic before you hit 'Buy It Now'? Your going to need a mechanic.

Common problems and dealership solutions include:
Dead Battery - Batteries not covered by warranty
Oil Leaks - Gaskets not covered by warranty
Air leaks from tire - Tires not covered by warranty
Remote don't work - Remotes not covered by warranty
Radio don't work - Radio not covered by warranty
Holes in the seat - Seat not covered by warranty

All that happened within the first month!

Plus the thing where it wouldn't start!

My nieghbor wasn't suprised, par for the course according to him.

Less then three months later the rear locked up, the insides broke apart.

Maybe your  problem is covered by the warranty. Get ready to take the part off and mail it back, at your expense, before getting a new one. Oh, and be prepared to wait, maybe 6 months for the part. You can cut this down if you can buy the scooter from the direct importer. i.e. buy a Tank from Tank, or a Lance from Lance or whoever from whoever and not through a 'dealership'. That middleman is just there to pad Lance or Tank or whoever from the customer, and distract lawsuits.

Why don't you call Lance and tell them you bought the scooter through a dealer and see if they will even talk to you?

Really, do not buy one. Sure a few people say they are OK, they got lucky, or maybe they are the people selling them. I know a company that sells these and the people who take your money think they are the greatest thing since peanut butter. 95% of the scooters they sell need parts within 6 months, half of those from the very first day it arrives.

These scooters are so bad and so dangerous that I have written my congressman pleading with him to introduce bills to make importing them illegal. The company I know has a new lawsuit against it every week and usually a new charge back or eBay dispute every week.

If you do decide to purchase a CCS online, do it through eBay, at least you can file negative feedback, although the company I know runs several user names and rotates through them when the heat is on. Or if you buy a CCS is to buy it locally, so that you can throw it through the store window when you get frustrated enough with it.

I got rid of it after I got the rear end fixed. Spent almost $2500 on it, 3 months and 200 miles later I $500 for it. Biggest waste of $2,000 ever. What's really sad is my friend warned me, he told me they were horrible, told me buy a early 90's KIA because they run better.

The best thing to do is buy a used Honda. Take your $3,000 and buy a used Honda for $2,000 and use the other $1,000 to fix it. It will be more reliable than those CCS.
