There are an increasing number of boats being offered by second parties where they will not allow inspection or survey before the sale.  Some are evasive and some of the "charities" claim they don't have access to the boats.  IF YOU CAN'T PHYSICALLY INSPECT THE BOAT THEN DON'T BID.  Most of these auctions have a very high documentation fee as well.  Not all States title boats and some ownerships are at best cloudy so BEWARE.  I wanted to clarify this statement.  Many of us have the experience to buy a boat unseen based on a variety of factors.  But if the seller will not permit you to see it then don't even consider buying it.  This comes with fifty years of experience in the marine business.  Every boat I've sold I've encoraged people to come see it, inspect it, have it surveyed if they wish.   At the buyers expense of course.   The point it that if you are not allowed access then it should raise a huge red flag.
