Bottom line is these scooters are great! Easy maintenance, and very reliable.  Sold from 1985 thru 1987.  In '84 the first model was a 125cc yet it had the same angular body style as the others, with the exception of the '87 model which was redesigned to a more aerodynamic design. The 150's came in regular models which look like a larger Elite 80, and a deluxe model ( CH 150D) which was very similar in styling with the addition of a power flip up headlight, heat vents, and a digital dash display with clock & trip meter, and some other minor changes. The '87 model was more round (body) like late model scooters, had a normal dash with 65mph speedometer & all gauges, and a fixed headlight. This is my favorite as it's the last year of  Honda's 150 scooters, has smooth body styling, less electronics to go bad, and I currently drive one.  I also owned one back in middle school, and I can attest that they are chic magnets, bulletproof, and a definite best buy compared to the Chinese scooters out there. Dont think chrome rims, indiglo dash, motorcycle look muffler, etc.. It all looks good, but reality is those scoots wont be around for years to come. Most are dead within a year or two. And parts dont exist on US soil. Two stroke, high revving air cooled motors assembled in China have no proven history to last decades like the Japanese Hondas currently do.  All Honda Elite 150's are 153cc four-stroke, liquid cooled motors with radiator and fan (yes it takes antifreeze like a car). The aftermarket is very scarce on the Hondas since they were near perfect from the factory. This may be a deterrent for those wanting to race this scooter. It was not intended for that type of riding. You may find lighter roller weights for quicker acceleration, and a Kevlar belt for longevity. Check forums and chats for helpful tips, and useful info including engine maintenance. But that isnt necessary as this scooter is as quick as, and faster than most of the other scooters in its class (up to 180cc!). A few negatives for some people will be: limited go fast parts, small storage, drum brakes, no kick start, age (@ 20 years old), and subtle styling. Other than that this scooter shines, and will keep you happy for many many years. Most scooters are beat on daily, and that kills them quickly, but the Honda can take it, which makes it ideal for the person or student who does NOT have the means to constantly adjust the carburetor, always replace brakes, mix oil and gas, rebuild top end every other summer, fix falling off pieces, rebuild the carb over and over, tighten frame bolts, kick starting, smoking engines, overheating,...I could go on and on. Buy this bike, keep it tuned up on decent tires, and you will realize the wise investment you made. It's not too flashy, so people wont want to steal it. It wont die, so be prepared to name it, and provide decent shelter for it. In return it will give you 75-100 mpg depending on how you ride. It will hit 65mph, and cruise all day at 55 with or without a passenger. This scooter is classed as a motorcycle in most states, so check around if that's a problem, but with it's stealthy looks, it can blend in with the 50cc scooter crowd, yet pull away with ease thanks to the larger displacement. Good for getting away from a dangerous situation quickly (dog, robber, or car not paying attention). Back when the speed limits were 55mph this was the perfect bike, but now with the raised speed limit, and aggressive drivers, I would stay off  major highways. I occasionally hit the expressway and get off within 3 exits just to stretch it's legs. Parts are everywhere and readily available, worse case scenario is taking it to the dealer which for me is $90/hr. labor rate no matter what type of vehicle it is. There are no problem areas for this scooter, but areas that can be neglected are the carb/dirty fuel or rust in tank, and flip up headlights. Also brakes, tires, & drivebelt. Not much more. This is normal maintenance. These bikes are collector items, and low mileage mint condition examples can command good money come scooter season. This scooter is light enough, and agile enough to zip thru traffic, it will definitely save on gas, and commuting fees. You can teach your wife, child, loved one, anyone how to ride a motorcycle on this and take your motorcycle exam on it. Late for class? Not anymore. Beer run? No problem. Need a fresh idea to keep her interested? Hop on. Only like $3 to $4 to fill up. Should be a consumers report best buy.
