Helmet Cameras Mounting & Videography Tips

Here are a few tips that we find helpful in creating compelling video. These are not strict guidelines.

  • When the helmet cam is mounted to your helmet (See Figures A & B), keep your head steady and try not to rotate rapidly from side to side. This will create a video that is easier to watch.
  • For compelling video, use a frame of reference, such as another person or your visor.
  • When possible, keep the sun at your back.
  • Try to see it from my point of view- the beauty of our helmet cams is you can put it almost anywhere - so do it, you'll be amazed at what you see.
  • Most people choose to film from their helmet (See Figures A & B). Mounting the cam to your head or body provides smoother video, as you act as a shock absorber. For smooth helmets, such as snowmobile, motorcycle or full face biking helmets, we suggest the Adhesive Mount (See Figure B). For attaching to a deep vented helmet, use the Double Hook & Loop Mount (See Figure C).
  • If you have the need for speed and lead the pack - mount the camera facing behind you to capture the agony your friends are in as they try to catch up. You can accomplish this by mounting the helmet cam pointing behind you. This shot takes extra time to setup as you don't want to film your rump or the sky for the entire ride.
