I recently noticed an ad for a 2003 Four Winns (330001346889) boat for $3000.

I responded with interest and asked the seller (Matthew Barry) for some additional questions and to send additional pictures. 2 Days later I recieved an email not answering my questions but stating "If I am interested I should send him my name, address so we can start the transaction through ebay motors." I responded again with my questions and also asked why the ad was terminated when he had 4 days to go. The response I recieved was " I recieved over 50 emails and I need to sell the boat. If you are the interested party let's start the transaction by sending name, address." I responded with again my original questions for the 3rd time and also asked to see a picture of the VIN number and recieved a response that the "boat was sold." I asked why he was selling a boat valued at $16,000 for $3000 and including shipping. His email states "I am forced to sell due to family problems." Shipping cost is $3500.

My questions were simple: Storage area's?, Cooler?, Safety Equipment?, Ski Locker?, Capacity? and How Can Shipping Be Included if the Cost Exceeded the Purchase?.

I called some boat dealers and they confirmed what this boat should sell for. I looked up the NADA low and high retail. The pricing was $15,500 to $17,750.

Why would you sell a boat for $3000 when it is valued and selling for $16,000? Why wouldn't you answer questions from a potential buyer? Why wouldn't you send additional pictures.

Based on the ad I was ready to make a trip accross the country to buy this boat. I'm glad I didn't.

If the seller won't answer questions, DON'T BID!
