I recently bought a scooter from Vietnam which took over four months to make it to my home. When I received the scooter it was not the same one as I won on eBay! Some modifications were done to the scoot that I had requested, but funny thing, they modified the wrong scoot! Make and model and year were all different (a 1966 Vespa Sprint) than the scoot I won (a 1964 Vespa Super). I also ended up with a scooter that had no speedometer, odometer and glove box, as were illlustrated in the picture of the scoot I won. I had spoken to the seller at least 5 times on the phone, he sent pictures after the new paint job, turn signals and rear rack were installed (which looked ok, but I should have observed more closely). The scoot was delayed for a month- they said due to weather (I checked the internet and the Vietnam weather was fine at that time) I believe the scooter company in Vietnam sold my scooter out from under me and fixed up another one in a hurry to send to me. In any case, I received it so late that Paypal, eBay and my Visa Card company were unable to help me reclaim my money. As you might expect, all communication with the seller halted when I realized I had been ripped off, so I will probably never know the true story. The only good thing is that the scoot seems to run ok, except the battery is not charging correctly I believe. So be careful- even if someone has good feedback and is willing to communicate with you, it is tempting to pull one over on the seller when an expensive item is coming from so far away.
