I am writing this guide because I recently purchased a 2002 BMW 325i.  I would like to share my experience thus far.

You will find that the handling and suspension on most BMW cars are second to none.  The agility is amazing.  The V6 engine can easily be mistaken for a V8.  (Unless you use regular gas, regular henders performance).  I found that mid-grade powers the car almost as good as premium.  The car is heavy and durable with excellent braking.  There are driver and passenger side air bags as well as the standard steering wheel and dash airbags.  It is a very safe car.

Most importantly it is a comfortable car.  On most all models, the seats are covered with top quality leather.  The seats, which have driver memory, will contour to the driver at the touch of a button.  There is a memory button for up to three drivers.  I am short and the headrest actually is adjustable to accomodate me!!!  The radio controls are on the steering wheel so there is no need to take your eyes away from the road to change the channel, change CD tracks, or adjust the volume.  The cruise control buttons are also conveniently located on the steering wheel.  There is plenty of leg room for 2-3 people in the backseat, where their are curtain air bags.  There are these neat little reading lights for backseat passengers that do no disturb the driver when turned on.  The truck space is unbelievable!!  A family of 4-5 could pack their luggage in the trunk with no problem and probably have room left.  There is a nifty compartment in the trunk lid for tools.

The only downfall I've seen with the BMW is that repairs can be very expensive if done at the dealership.  The oil only needs to be changed every 15,000 miles.  The dealership usually charges well over $100.  If you buy the filter from the dealership and the oil from a local auto parts store, most average garages will only charge you $10-$15 to change the oil for you so you come out way cheaper.  (Please refer to the owner's manual when purchasing oil; the 325i requires 7 quarts for oil change).

I heard someone say once that "if you drive a BMW, you will never want to drive anything else".  I've only had my car a couple of months and I believe this to be 100% true.  I won't buy any other kind of car.  If you need more room than the sedan offers, try the BMW X3 or X5.  That is going to be my next purchase!!
