OK, you are bidding on something expensive, like a car. It goes way beyond your budget and so it joins that long parade of Things You Wish You Could Afford. Life goes on. You have lunch.
Then, What's This? A SECOND CHANCE! Miss America has realized she doesn't have to wash her hair on Saturday! Well, almost. You receive what looks like a Second Chance Offer, allowing you to buy the car at your bid, even if you are, oh, 5 bids down and several Thousand Dollars below the high bid. What gives?
Chances are, you have just participated in the most recent scam- participated as the intended victim, that is.Some wily phisher has figured out your email address and has sent you one of those "official LOOKING" messages. Only it is not from the seller. And it is not from eBay. It is from the Bad People.
ANY ANY ANY time you receive a second chance offer, go imediately (via some link not in the message) to your MY EBAY Page and look in your MY MESSAGES section. Is the offer there? Look at the items I DIDN'T WIN section. Is the offer there? What's that smell?
Do not pass Go, do not reply to the email offer. Forward it to Spoof@eBay.com and get back to looking at stuff you can almost afford.
