This is an identification guide for 64-67 stock Muncie and Saginaw shifter handles for Chevrolet. These Chevrolets used the same shifter handle regardless of transmission type (Muncie or Saginaw). Of course the linkage between the handle and the transmission was different but I'll get into that in another guide.
---------------------
Here are the three available handles for 1964-67 Chevelle:
1964-1967 Chevelle
The handle on the left is a 1964-67 Chevelle and Nova bench seat shifter. It is for cars with bench seat only and should have a white shifter ball with shift pattern on it. It is also the 1964 Impala bench stick.
The middle one is the 1964-66 Chevelle bucket seat handle, for cars with or without a console. It should have a chrome ball. It is also the 1964 Impala bucket seat stick.
The one on the right is the 1967 Chevelle bucket seat handle, for cars with or without a console. It should have a chrome ball.
-----------------------------
These two are the different bench seat shifters:
Left Chevelle/Nova/64 Impala, Right Impala 65-67
The one on the left is the 1964-67 Chevelle and Nova / Chevy II bench shifter (same as above). And 64 Impala.
The one on the right is for the full size Impala models. 65-67
-----------------
This is the difference between the 65-66 Impala console shifter and the 1967 Chevelle console shifter:
65-66 Impala, 67 Chevelle
65-66 Impala is on the left, 67 Chevelle shifter is on the right
----------------------
This is the difference between the 64-66 Chevelle bucket seat shifter and the 65-67 Nova / ChevyII shifter for bucket seats, with or without console:
64-66 Chevelle, 65-67 Nova
64-66 Chevelle on the left, 65-67 Nova / ChevyII on the right.
I tilted the shifters a little to show they are similar but clearly different.
---------------------------
This is the difference between 1968-72 Chevelle shifters and 1968-72 Impala console shifters:
68-72 Impala, 68-72 Chevelle
1968-72 Chevelle shifters (right), 1968-72 Impala console shifters (left):
(I stole this picture from the internet but don't remember whom to credit, sorry about that)
-----------------------
When I get picture of the 67 Impala shifter I will post here.
It is my intention to expand this guide to include more levers.
