You purchased an ebook with resale rights, created a killer sales page and rushed to get it listed on ebay. With your killers sales listed on ebay, you start seeing sales coming in by the day, hour and finally minute. The excitement builds inside you knowing the next time you check your paypal account, there will be hundreds or dollars for you to spend at your disposal. You start your computer, open up the internet explorer, log on to you ebay account and like someone just shot you through the heart, ebay ended your auction for a violation of terms. With a feeling of what did I do, you wonder what next. Is this really worth it?
Well folks, I have been in those exact shoes more than my share fair. At first I felt like giving up, then shook it off and continued on with the little hope I had left. Now many months later, I have had many listing ended because of silly policy violations. Back in June 07, ebay shut all my auctions down, a total of over 100 listing because I bid on an item that belonged to my sister in law. What a heart breaker!
I want to give everyone that is in the ebook business or looking to get in the ebook business on ebay a heads up with the most common reasons why ebay will pull your ebook auctions.
1. Not stating you're the copyright holder.
- If you do not make it known in your auction that you either are the copyright holder or have resale rights to the product you are selling, ebay could pull your listing. If it a high priced item, I recommend you have little simple statement at the beginning of your auction stating your the copyright holder or have resale rights to the ebook or item. If it low priced, you can just put it at the bottom of your listing.
2. Wrong Category.
- All ebooks must be listed in the Everything Else > Information products category. This is one of the biggest reasons ebay pulls ebooks, sellers sometimes think they have an edge listing in other categories, little do they know hoe the search engine works. Ebay will eventually catch up to your listing and remove it.
3. Misleading title.
- Make sure and list in your title that you are selling a ebook plus what ever the subject of the ebook. Don't over hype the title. "How I made a million dollars in one day" is misleading. Something like "How I make $1250 a week" is more reasonable.
4. Keyword trademark violation.
- First thing, try to avoid keywords that are not related to the product you are selling. If you are selling a Atkins diet ebook, don't include south beach diet in your title. And last, be careful how you list your ebook when it comes to companies. A good example is playstation wholesale list ebook. Ebay will pull your auctions if you mention any trademark names on certain items. Instead use something like "Video Game Console Wholesale List ebook".
5. Selling a lot of 1p/1c ebooks.
- If you look around ebay, you will see allot of 1 cent auctions. I recommend you don't use this method because sooner or later, you will get suspended. Ebay might take this action as feedback solicitation. Also try and avoid purchasing allot of 1 cent ebooks because the same kind of thing can happen. Actually last June 07, ebay ended all my .47 cent ebooks auctions and that's why you see I have jumped the price up to .97 ebooks. You will notice the 1 cent sellers are getting suspended using this method. There account says "No longer a registered user".
There are many reasons why ebay will end your auction. The above reasons are some of the most common. Remember, there is never a guarantee your listing will never be ended. Ebay has allot of policies and these rules differ from each country. If your ebooks is ended by ebay, don't take it personal.
So what should I do if ebay ends one of my auctions?
The number one thing you shouldn't do is relist that item. You should find out why ebay has ended your item. The best way to do this is contact ebay live help. There you will get a real live ebay representative that will be able to assist with your ended listing. Remember to always be polite to anyone you talk to even if its the same people that just pulled your money making auction. It's not the representative at live help that pulled your auction so it would be best not to take it out on one of them.
When you do get to the bottom of why your listing was ended, make some adjustments to your sales page or title and get the "all clear" from ebay. Make Sure ebay has checked out your updated sales page or title and given the go ahead to relist. Once you get the green light, you are free and clear of any violation so go ahead and relist your item and watch the money start coming back in.
I know it can be very frustrating to have ebay pull your auction. With just these five simple tips I just showed you, ebay should leave your auction alone for the time being. Remember, we all have to abide by ebay's rules, and as long as you correct any violations when notified by ebay, you should not have any further problems. Now you can continue your dreams to PowerSeller Status.
