eBook Pricing - Are You Selling at a Good Price?
Are you selling eBooks in an eBay store or at auction and those listings seem to go past sellers noses? Perhaps your pricing is not at its most optimum?
As an eBook seller, you need to check out your competition at some point, hopefully at many times before, during, and after the sales. Do a search in eBay and pull up other titles that are similar and see what your competition sells them for.
Should you raise or lower your price? Well, that really depends on you! And that is not the easy way out of that question. If you like to sell cheaply, then by all means, sell cheaply, lower your price and accept any offer that comes in. But if you are smart, you will notice that most of the auctions and store items fluctuate and change all the time. Sometimes your eBook might sell and other times it might not. But if you have a higher price in the store, you will undoubtedly catch those onlookers searching for a product, but not for the lowest price. Hence, you might make more for waiting longer. And if you have your eBook listed in store format for a higher price, then when you determine it is right for you, you can list it at auction for a lower amount. Sometimes this lower amount will start a bidders war and drive the price up even higher.
As an eBook seller, we have many techniques involved with pricing. And do they work? Well, bottom line, yes they do. We seem to attract more buyers looking for a solid product rather than buyers who want a cheap item. And for those looking for a bargain, we have listings of eBooks at rock bottom prices too!
The keys are:
- to check competition.
- check your prices often.
- trail and error.
- lower auction listings.
- higher store listings.
- have some bargain listings.
- have some one cent sales to bring in buyers.
Does it matter if you have old eBooks versus newer eBooks? Well, it can help to have a good mixture, but believe it or not, the buyers still look for the older eBooks as much as the newer eBooks, so it doesn't matter on the age of the eBooks. We sell old and new eBooks and many in between. The thing is, the title sells the eBook, with the content complimenting the title. And buyers prefer resell to non-resell eBooks.
Try it out and see for yourself. Over time, it can be proven that it works! Time will tell, and if you don't have an eBay store yet, what's stopping you? The Basic eBay store is well worth the investment, just make sure you get many store listings in there!
Good luck with your pricing!
