There are many types of guarantees and warranties offered on eBay. There may be a manufacturer's warranty or a guarrantee offered by the seller himself or both. The more the product costs, the more critical this can become. You can have a manufacturer's warranty but have no outlet anywhere near you. This can present quite a problem since the eBay seller may just say "you have your warranty, contact the manufacturer". The manufacturer could say " You ship the product to us at your expense and we'll repair it and then you pay to return ship it back to you".
We sell vent free electric and gas fireplaces. When we started out, I wanted to make absolutely certain that we were going to offer only the highest quality. That keeps the need for warranty servicing at a much more managable level than trying to service a moderate quality fireplace where parts can wear out much more quickly, just to get a cheaper price. What is equally as vital are the people behind the performance on the warranties. I've been in marketing and sales my entire life and the people behind the products we offer are far and away the best I've ever seen. Not only do they ship lightening quick, their warranty perfomance has been absolutely breathtaking! In the three years I've been offering ventless electric and gas fireplaces and log sets, there are no dissatisfied customers. On the contrary, if you go to our feedbacks, you'll see they're very, very happy. I've simply never had customers this pleased. 100% positive doesn't tell the whole story.
I do the best job I can in communicating the shipping status and assisting the customers in setting the appointments for delivery; just consistent follow through. Fireside Distributors in Raleigh, NC is responsible for everything else and are they ever! The customers are not only thrilled with their new fireplace but cannot say enough about our shipping performance and when necessary, warranty follow-up.
This is the whole point of this guide. Find out how your eBay seller is going to get you the performance. WHO are the people behind the warranty and the shipping? What's their track record? Ask how long have they been in business. Speak on the phone with your eBay seller even if you have to pay for the call. You're spending your hard earned money and the feedback concept is brillant but digging into the situation further is just as intelligent. It is very possible to buy right around the corner and receive very POOR performance on your warranty. It's not where you purchase your product but who are the people behind your product. Don't be bashful.
Thank you very much for your time.
