In a nutshell, the customer must:

• Enter the seller’s store or a particular listing from a source outside of eBay,
• Using the store referral link
• Commit to purchase the item while in the seller’s store.

What is the store referral link?

It is the url that takes the customer to your store, followed by the code “&refid=store” or “?refid=store".

My referral link is:

If taking the customer to a specific item copy the url for that item and add the referral code.

Now what?

OK, so you already knew that. But where and how can you use this knowledge? Well, store owners have newsletters for which their customers and potential customers can sign up. This is an excellent place to include the referral link to your store. Other places like MySpace can also be used to share this url with potential customers.

Another practice I employ is the signature line in my everyday email.  Each person with whom I correspond via email sees the signature line, along with the referral link to my store.  Every person who gets one of my emails forwarded to them, also sees this signature line.

Setting up the signature line on Outlook Express

If you use Outlook Express, you can access the signature line by doing the following.

• With Outlook Express open, click on Tools > and choose Options from the drop down menu.
• Click on the Signatures tab
• Click on the New button
• Give your signature a name, or let the Outlook Express suggest the name (Signature #1)
• Ensure the radio button next to Text is green
• Enter your desired signature in the text box.
      I use my Full name and an invitation, “Won’t you visit me at Judy’s Corner” followed by my referral link.
• After ensuring you have no typos, click the “Set as Default” button.
• Then click OK to close the window.
