eBay My World - Darn right - it's all YOU! We'll I just finished my eBay "My World" page and I've got to give kudos to eBay, as it has ease of use, is well laid out and allows eBayer's to just tell the world all about themselves, their eBay business, hobbies, interests, what's for sale and of course, Feedback scores. Will it help increase business? I think anything that gets your eBay store - your business model out on the web - is helpful.

It's simple to use and while it mimics "My Space" who cares, as "My World" is all about those who have one common interest "eBay".

The freedom to leave contact information and basically present an enhanced "About Me" page, which combines eBayer's Blogs, Reviews and Guides, places the information in one concise format.

In addition, it gives everyone the ability to drive more traffic to their eBay store, as links to My World pages will soon be appearing on Google and Yahoo!

Speaking of eBay Guides and Reviews...

Search engine traffic is the key to getting more buyer's into your eBay store (plain and simple). Many underestimate the traffic flow from eBay Guides, Reviews and Blogs (and now My World). Some may think they have nothing to say and/or contribute however, "those in the know" are supplementing lost eBay traffic through "pay per click engines" and eBay Guides, Reviews and Blogs.

Pay per click engines can be helpful in obtaining traffic however, the quality of traffic and recent reports of click-through fraud are on the rise and your money may be well spent elsewhere. When considering pay per click traffic it's the quality of the click-through which can spell s-u-c-c-e-s-s or f-a-i-l-u-r-e!

Firms which offer over a 100,000 clicks for pennies on the dollar may promise loads of traffic (which they will send to you) however, if the click through does not convert to a sale - what's the purpose?

One Click Can Make the Difference!

The power of "one click" can make a world of difference in your bottom line. One new buyer added to your current line-up of established buyer's is what you want! Add ten new buyer's a day (and so on) and you'll see a new trend developing:

  • Buyer's bookmarking your eBay store
  • Repeat customers visiting your store daily
  • A REAL increase in site traffic
  • An increase from click to conversion - equal - sale completed!

Writing Guides, Blogs and Reviews!

There's nothing worse than staring at a blank page and racking your brains to come up with a topic, a subject (anything) to write about.  Writing original material is tough! It's time consuming and can even be downright boring however, the rewards can translate into higher traffic counts!

How to Write a Guide or Blog!

What do you sell? Obvious question but, you have to have a starting point! Sell toys? Start researching the line-up for hot Christmas Toys (a no-brainer). Go to Yahoo! and do a search using the keywords "trend hunter" and the first listing can be a useful resource for the hottest trends (past and future).

Yes, finding out consumers are buying on eBay is important however, if you don't sell it - then it's not going to help you. Finding a niche market and/or taking your current niche market and supplementing it with even one or two NEW TRENDY items can increase your sales and traffic counts.

Now, even if you don't (or can't) sell the NEW TRENDY items, you can still write a REVIEW on the item! If you can't sell it - write about it! What do you think of the product? Your opinion is all that's needed in this case. In fact, click on Write a Review and start reviewing items for sale on eBay!

Don't have a clue as to what to write about or, think you can't write? Get on Yahoo! and do a search for free website content in the public domain - there are resources which are FREE and cost you nothing but, your time!

The Good News!

If you write an eBay Guide, Review or Blog (or ALL three), your guide, review or blog will show up and be indexed in Yahoo! and Google. The more guides, blogs and reviews you write - the more listings you will receive! One listing can you get a "REAL" clicks every day of the year and you will actually receive QUALITY traffic for ZERO dollars!

The Proof is in the Pudding (so to speak)

We can attribute thousands of REAL click throughs from Yahoo! and Google each and every month. Yes, the clicks convert to buyers! Yes, the new buyers bookmark our eBay store! Yes, we bring many NEW people to eBay through our search engine listings. Yes, eBay and our store benefits as a direct result of our Guides and Blog and it's a "win-win" scenario.

First Things First!

Okay, the first thing you have to do to get a handle on your current search engine listings (and traffic counts) is as follows:

  • Log into your eBay account, click on Manage Store and then scroll down to the sub-heading "Reports" and click on Traffic Reports. When you log in to build a traffic report, eBay will prompt you to re-enter your username and password.
  • Now, click on Finding Methods (left hand navigation bar) and then click Search Engines and review your current numbers.
  • Next, go to Google and Yahoo! and place youe eBay username in search box in quotes (example: "WindsorAuctions-USA").
  • Click on the submit button and see how many listings you have on Google and Yahoo!
  • Write these numbers down, as you'll need to refer back to them in a three to four weeks.
  • Finally, start writing Guides, Reviews and Blogs and post them! Have the whole day off on Saturday? Spend the day writing ten guides and get them posted! Time is Money!

Guide Keywords!

Once you write a guide, you need to put in keywords in the "Enter Tags" section at the bottom of your newly created Guide. Pick relevant (as relevant as you can get) keywords for your guide. Do accept eBay keywords at first glance as you can enhance the relevance of your Guide by selecting better keywords and categories. eBay allows you to change categories before posting your guide and you can even come back in the future and change categories and keywords!

Don't be Greedy!

Whatever you do, don't keyword spam (or pick categories), which you think have the highest relevance but, have little to do with the subject of your Guide! This is a great way to get nowhere fast! Be picky with your keywords and categories however, don't think you're smarter than the search engines, as NONE of US are:-)

Article Submitter - Don't Pass This Opportunity Up!

Once you've written a guide, you will find it has multiple uses! It's not a one-shot wonder deal just for eBay! There's a whole other world on the net to go post your guide! Go to Yahoo! and do a search using the keywords "article submitter". There are hundreds (if NOT thousands) of places to submit your article for FREE! The more places you post your guide (as an article) the more search engine listings you will achieve!

However, you'll want to make just minor change to your guide/article - place your eBay store address in the article so you'll realize compounded traffic results!

Now, you can buy an automated article submitter el'cheapo and save yourself much time in doing individual postings of your article or, you can go it alone and do them one at a time - your preference but, remember TIME equals MONEY!

The article submitter programs out on the market are pretty cheap and will save you time, as they automatically submit your article to hundred's of places on the web. However, even with an article submitter program, you will find that you may have to register with the high profile websites one at a time but, the program pre-fills in all the necessary registration information for you.

Coming Back FULL CIRCLE!

Okay, you've posted your Guide on eBay and through off eBay websites - what's next? Start an eBay Blog and post the article in your Blog (and any other Blogs you have out on the net!) Post it everywhere you possibly can!

Remember, this is about getting content out on the web and re-directing that traffic back to you! Don't be discouraged if no one reads your eBay Blog, as while it's nice to get eBay Blog readers and receive comments - the mission is to get traffic outside of eBay to come on into eBay and discover YOU and YOUR eBay STORE! This is ALL about YOU!

This is NOT a contest! Yes, you will receive "Yes" and "No" votes on your guides (expect it!). Not everyone will like what you write and not everyone will agree with your point of view and/or opinion. However, when you do get votes (whether Yes or NO) at least you KNOW people are reading your material!

Okay, get to stepping! Start writing! Write one new Guide a week or better yet...ONE PER DAY! I promise that if you follow our advice, your traffic counts will increase!
