Using Your eBay Gift Cards

This holiday season will deliver with it an exciting gift possibility thanks to
the folks at eBay. That's right, after hearing user requests, the online
direct sales and auction giant has decided to issue gift cards for the
purchase of the many incredible items on its site. This means holiday
shoppers can literally give anyone on their lists the world this holiday
season, or darn close to it.

With millions of buyers and sellers from all over the world coming together
on eBay, the possibilities for these gift certificates are many. Whether the
amount of the card received is large or small, if you unwrap one of these,
you'll find deciding how to spend it won't be an easy undertaking. On eBay
you'll discover there are millions of buys to choose from and two general
ways to buy.

Buying Little Girls Clothing on eBay
There is a plethora of clothing for sale on eBay  for little girls and you can
easily get completely lost in the thousands of items available.  One hint for
you is if you mainly want a new item then be sure to add in your search
"NWT" which means New With Tags or even just the search term "NEW"
and this will ensure that your search comes up with new, rather than used,
clothing items.

There are also some wonderful Boutique style clothing on eBay that is both
name brand and not name brand but don't let this fool you.  There are some
incredible styles and creativity of little girls clothing that fit right in to the
boutique world.  Again, enter in the word "boutique" to your search term
and you will return many wonderful items.

Finally, to really narrow down your search you can put the size in the search.
As an example if I were looking for a New Boutique Outfit in size 3T I would
simply type those terms into the search box on the main page of eBay and
you will get a nice narrowed group of items.  If you want to narrow it more
you can enter in the color, season (holiday, fall, school, winter etc.).

The Ways To Buy
If you're unfamiliar with eBay, the first thing you'll find when you go to the
web site is that it offers two main ways to purchase items. How a
particular item is marketed will depend on seller's preference. The general
options are:

• Direct buys. From the many custom and new retailers that market
products through virtual stores on the eBay site to individual sellers who
use the site in place of other sales outlets, much of the merchandise on
this site is available for purchase at a set price – no haggling required.

• Auctions. First and foremost, eBay is an auction site. This means if
you unwrap a gift card, you can find yourself getting into a fun, fast-paced
auction for a desired purchase. This route enables you to set your price
and compete against other potential buyers. The fun of this option is that
you get to set your price and you might even win an item at a "steal," but
it does not come with the guaranteed purchase ability that a direct buy does.

What You'll Find
If you're new to eBay, this site is going to bowl you over with the selection
of merchandise available in just about everything imaginable. It is very
difficult to find a type of product that cannot be found for sale or auction
on the site. Some of the main classes include:

• Clothing. From restored vintage clothing, brand new brand name
items and one-of-a-kind custom made pieces and boutique storefront
designs, the clothing market on eBay is hot. You'll even find some very
good designers market their new wares via virtual storefronts on the site.
Covering all ages and tastes, eBay could make the biggest clothing
retailer blush with its selection.

• Antiques. The variety of antiques from individual sellers and
professional dealers is amazing on this site. Here you'll find just about
every period imaginable covered and prices that run the gamut.

• Electronics. Cameras, computers, video games, televisions and
more are all available from the sites' sellers.

• Collectibles. From movie memorabilia to contemporary action
figures, collectibles are very big on the site.

• Other items. Browse eBay and you're likely to find everything from
car auctions to real estate and beyond.

Shopping Smartly
While eBay is one of the most interesting and fun online marketplaces to
shop on, there is some potential for fraud. There are ways to protect
yourself as your browse and buy. The things to do include:

• Paying attention to feedback ratings. All eBay sellers and buyers are
given feedback ratings. This feature helps create a community feel on
eBay and enables buyers and sellers to see how sellers and buyers have
behaved in the past. Sellers with high marks are generally those who
provide great results and deliver exactly what they say they will. After
using your card, don't forget to leave feedback. Sellers really appreciate
it!

• Reading descriptions. It is very important for you to read a full
product or auction description. It is here where sellers will (or should)
clearly state what the item up for grabs really is. If a seller clearly states
something in the description and you fail to read it, it's not the seller's fault
if a purchase isn't to your liking or expectations. It is particularly important
to read the descriptions when buying brand name products and high-end
items. A little extra caution on your part can go a long way.

The gift of an eBay card opens up the world. If you are lucky enough to
receive one of these this holiday season, you're going to find the
possibilities are almost endless. Just use a little commonsense when
exploring the options, and you'll find this gift card offers a completely
distinct and fascinating shopping experience.
