eBay DSR - Detailed Seller Rating

Hello Friends

I am writing this Guide in regards to increasing your eBay DSR in regards to Communication.

There are TWO primary ways to help increase your eBay Communication DSR and offer optimal Customer Service.

1.)  E-mail Individual Buyers at auction end when payments are received and notify them when their item will ship and when it ships. Be sure to include the shipping service used(ex. UPS, USPS 1st Class, USPS Priority, etc), and also a Tracking Number if available. A personalized email to each Buyer will greatly increase your Customer Service Rating, as well as increase repeat customers and customer satisfaction.

2.) If your using the PayPal Shipping Center to purchase labels and ship items, make sure your settings are selected to send each Buyer a Shipping Notification Email when you purchase and create a shipping label for their package.

You may want to periodically check your PayPal Settings on the PayPal Website to insure that your settings are always correct. For many years, I have always had my shipping preferences set to send each Buyer an email every time I create/purchase a shipping label for their package. When eBay introduced the new DSR chart, I noticed that I had a Communication Rating slightly less than 5.0, and wondered why. I went back to my PayPal Account, and checked my Email/Shipping Settings. my setting for "Display Return Shipping Label Link to Buyers" was reset to the PayPal default setting of NO. This should be selected as YES. I reset me setting and my DSR for Communication has increased accordingly. Also, there is an option in your PayPal Settings to select whether or not you would like your Ship Button enabled. I select YES for all, and have noticed that this has been reset to the PayPal default setting of NO also.

Here is how to select/verify the above mentioned settings:

  • Go directly to the PayPal Website and sign in
  • Under MY ACCOUNT, select the Profile tab
  • Once you're in your Profile, select SHIPPING PREFERENCES

You will then see an option to set your option for the following:

  • DISPLAY RETURN SHIPPING LABEL LINK TO BUYERS -->> Select YES
  • DISPLAY SHIP BUTTON -->> Select YES for one or all
