We often buy software for our clients via eBay, and it's not unusual for us to have a dozen auctions in various stages of completion and delivery at any time.  Here's a simple hint that has made it MUCH EASIER for us to determine the status of any item that we have a question about:

  • When did we win the item?
  • Did we ask the seller any questions before the sale?
  • When was our payment processed?
  • Do we have notification of shipping and a tracking number?
  • And more...

We've found that all this becomes easier if the corresponding messages are sorted together, and to make that happen we routinely change the initial part of the subject line to display the eBay item number for every message related to an eBay item .  It will make your 'subject-sorted' E-mail display look like this:

(Each message is sorted into subject order, grouping all related auction item numbers together.)

We've also found some value in using this technique for the items we sell, but the big payoff was certainly in aiding our management of items we were purchasing.  We hope you might find it to be of use as well!

to build a reputation on eBay one-person-at-a-time, and we'd like your help to do it!  THANK YOU!
