My ebay store is an integral part of my eBAY selling strategy. Last month it sold 150 items for a little over $2200.00. But, it wasn't always that way.
When I first got started on eBAY I used to do my best to put up 200 or 300 auctions per week. Of these - 15% to 20% would sell on the first listing. Then I would find myself relisting the non-selling items for another three to five weeks, hoping to sell 20% more...and, I usually did sell them, but at a huge cost. If you figure a minimum of 200 auctions, running for just four weeks, at 45 cents each - that's $360.00. My items sell for an average of $18.00 each with shipping ... so I was spending $360.00 to gross, maybe $400.00 to $500.00 - It just wasn't making good sense.
When eBAY lowered the store listing price it triggered a little light in head, and I began to stash all of my non-sellers in my ebBAY store for a cost of only $144.00 a year for those same 200 listings. Right off the bat, I was saving over $216.00 - PLUS. I could add gallery to each auction, for only 1 cent, and a sub-title for another 2 cents. How's that for getting a lot of bang for your buck.
Today, I have just short of 8000 items tucked away in my ebay store. I normally list only forty to fifty regular auctions (that still close, at about a 15% to 20% rate) - but, I don't worry near as much about my "losers" anymore. And, I will tell you why - Each one of those babies that doesn't sell for $10.00 each on the initial listing goes into my eBAY store, where they generally sell for $13.00 to $25.00 each. It sort of makes me sad when any one of them sell as a regular listing anymore.
Try the following tips for your eBAY Store Strategy, and see if they can help get you on the road to success:
- Brand your store. Get a professional logo, and look - and stick with it.
- Make sure every auction has a link in it to your store auctions. You can use a gallery or showcase to highlight your items. Two great free services are available through Auctiva, and FilmLoop.
- Develop a pricing strategy for your store. My preference is to raise the price once items go into the store. It reinforces my buy-it-now pricing offered in all of my auctions. I have also seen a clearance price strategy work well for others - You make the call, or experiment to see which works best for you.
- If you have a bunch of the same items to sell, run two or three regular auctions, and another two or three store auctions at a higher price. Inevitably, you will get several buy-it-nows at the higher price - especially if you are priced just below the normal eBAY price.
- Finally - An eBAY store is the perfect vehicle to allow you to take advantage of all of eBAY's special pricing offers. When they have a 10 cent or 15 cent regular listing, or fixed priced listing special - I can easily move 2000, maybe even 3000 of my store items to take advantage, and rev up my sales even more.
Try a few of these ideas in your eBAY store, and see what they can do for you.
