i recently had an unfavorable experiance with a seller on ebay. i saw a set of aluminum wheels i liked (just wheels-no tires). i noticed that the seller wanted $120 to ship them. We have shipped plenty of wheel sets and always paid between $40 and $60 to go all the way across the country( fed ex ground, DHL etc). Knowing this we emailed the seller requesting that we arrange our own shipping. the seller agreed to this but requested the cost of the boxes......seems fair.....ok, we win the auction(4 wheels-$102), and the seller sends an invoice that includes $40 additional for boxes.we thought this was a little high (actually a LOT high ) we emailed him to forget the boxes and just plastic wrap them to not get scratched! We sent the paypal payment for the $102. a few days later we get a refund for the $102 and the seller sais he will relist the item.We felt that was fine since $120 was high for shipping and $40 bor boxes was ridiculous.APPARENTLY WE SHOULD HAVE ASKED HOW MUCH BOXES COST BEFORE BIDDING. 2 weeks later this ebayer who featured a 75% positive rating left us negative feedback without prior notice.we searched arould a little and noticed the normal range of aluminum wheel set was $40-80.A set of 14-15 inch wheels with tires was $100-140 We would HIGHLY advise always making sure of your shipping costs before bidding. Apparently there are sellers who are not just content selling their item and getting prompt payment- but further want to gouge on the shipping price. Any reputable seller might add on a nominal charge for handling and we find its usually a reasonable amount. ask your seller for shipping weight and go to the fed ex or DHL sights, know your prices and allow for reasonable handling before you get taken.
