I recently sold a number of items to what appeared to be a new member.
This guy went on a spending spree all over the Warhammer community buying Terrain, and Custom painted Minis.
he then turned right around and began to resell them.
OK..
He bought it.
He can sell it.
That's not really a problem.
BUT, the work he bought and resold was nty minis in a box.
It was hard and expert work accomplished by experience Pro Level artists.
The items were sold without saying where the really came from. No credit given for the work.
Credit for the work, which was not the seller's work, was taken in the details.
AND the each entire, auction including description text and image, were stolen from the original auctions.
THAT is unacceptable.
I don't know about you guys, but the description part of the auction is my chore-level activity.
Not only do I write a description that gets the interest and sell the item, but I write code for presentation.
I host my own images on a website I pay for and link to eBay -saves cost to me and my buyers- and all my images are sized to two files for thumbnail and BIG images.
I use a professional grade camera and am trained to get a better than average snapshot. I set up my shots from experience and take time to create the action showing the use of what I am selling.
Then there is the actual terrain.
I have been building for several -about 7- years.
,
I have a life time of experience in art of all kinds and I pretty well know what I am doing and have been told I have the talent to go with it.- my feedback and sales speak to that.
The POINT is that as Warhammer painters and builders we work hard to know and perfect out ART and CRAFTSMANSHIP.
What this one guy did was to use our hard work as competition to our own sales. We did all the work he just stole it to resell our stuff.
And that week all my stuff he was reselling resold.
Nothing I had listed sold that week
But he got no feedback from it.
When I saw my items in the active and completed line up, I immediately made reports to eBay using the provided link at the bottom of every auction page. Every auction, whether active or completed, that I reported was summarily deleted and feed back could not be left.
I contacted the buyers and sent them the item numbers of MY original auctions and let them know where they could get more like that .
It's important that we don't let some one, anyone do this sort of thing.
using our own carefully designed -in many cases- make the item unfair competition.
Let the buyer, if he wants to resell, make his own pictures, write his own text and ABOVE ALL if possible give credit where credit for the original; work is due to the artists who made it. Or at the very least the sell should NOT take credit either deliberately or by implication for anyone else' work.
What to do if you see an item you made and sold being resold with your images and / or text.:
Use the 'Report this Item- link at the bottom of the auction.
You will be asked for original item number of the item you sold.
Contact Trust And Safety and ask for an investigation of the Member.
Warn your friends whose3 items you might likewise see for resale .
How to know it is happening.
It is a good practice to periodically browse the active and competed listings just to know what the extended market is like and keep abreast of changing trends.
You will recognize your own pictures.
Check it out.
