(update January 16, 2008: Owner Jianwen Li , John Li, sent me two new Sandisk Cards with a receipt from a retail store in the u.s. apologizing for the incident saying he was unaware of the counterfeit nature of the cards.)
unfortunately buying sandisk memory cards on ebay can be risky- seller pig-pony sold me two counterfeit sandisk extreme III 4 gb cards and they then claimed they never sent them to me! usps even made me sign for the package.
so here's what to do when this happens to you:
don't agree to return the items!
file a report with the legitimate manufacturer and they will give you a claim number
escalate a claim with paypal and provide the manufacturer claim # as well
don't respond to emails from the fraudulent seller- deal only with paypal and ebay. the seller will try and get you to drop the claim by promising they will refund you. but seriously do you want to trust someone who has committed fraud? i've seen posts from people who have returned the items and then never heard anything after that so they were out the money.
as of this time (may 2007) if you see a 4gb sandisk extreme III cf`card selling for under $70 then it is most likely counterfeit.
they are also affiliated with campus111 and the websites www.pigpony.com www.campus111.com and www.usa111.com . i'm sure they are affiliated with many more sites.
sincerely
