this guide will help you find a dealer that wont sell you a bunch of slugs or culls (ancient scrap metal or dust) as you may know the feedback profile dosnt paint a clear picture and are often corrupted by personal agendas people have with sellers,i.e. if i leave neg for this guy he'll do the same to me regardless of how fast payment was sent.

so what im gonna do is tell you about the people ive dealt with personally.im not trying to smear any one just giving you the buyer a heads up.this is pertaining to the "but it now" "treasure-hunt" auctions that are all over ebay.if your bidding on a single coin with a picture then you will already know what your getting.some dealers listed below sell single coins and have silver coins for sale all the time.

first of all DO NOT FALL FOR THE "GOLD AND SILVER FOUND"claims sellers use,these are marketing tricks they use to get bids.you could buy every coin they have and probably wont get either,not to say they dont exist but i think you have a better chance winning the lottery.if you want a silver or gold coin i suggest doing a search for it and buying it by itself.

these are sellers i have bought from and what i got from them I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE AUCTIONS ON THIS PAGE I MAY TRY A SAMPLE AND ADD THESE SELLERS TO MY LIST HERE TO SEE WHAT THEY GOT BUT PLEESE DONT THINK THEY ARE PEOPLE THAT I SUGGEST BUYING FROM UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED BELOW.

direct1243 sells uncleaned roman coins for $2.00 each+$4.00 s&h for as many as you want, it will take at least 2-3 weeks for delivery the auction says it in very fine print at the bottom of the page 9-15 BUSINESS days from the time your PAYMENT RECIEVED,i ordered 3 coins and i got:1 as big around as a pencil with absolutly no details completely smooth piece of ancient scrap metal.1 small coin slightly bigger than the last coin details on one side of coin(reverse)the other side smooth as silk. AND 1 FOLLIS with no legend(broke off all the way around the coin) slight details on emperors head meaning you can see there was a face on it,my advise is not to buy from him these coins are not unsearched

estate_sale_liquidation :sells coins listed as:PREMIUM ANCIENT ROMAN COINS,ha.10 coins for$32.50 i ordered 2 of these lots in dec.05 and still hav'nt got them. seller has you mail payment to a p.o.box in phoenix,az ebay says hes in cinncinatti,oh. whats up with that?didnt reply to a single email and e bay was no help either,they suspended his account for a couple days,and that was it so be carefull,dont buy from him i think hes a con artist,i pulled his feedback from sellers and hes bought quite a few  0.01 cent "e-books"most about making money on ebay to boost his positive feedback rating.i dont recomend him to any one.

ancientworldcoins:the cheapest uncleaned coins ive found(from$0.50-$1.75) $4.00 s&h for as many as you want.seller will respond quick to email often same day or even a couple hours later same day.still waiting on them but the seller has ,so far gone out of his way to make me happy.has to be the most honest roman coins dealer i have ever come accross.tried to buy 500 coins but seller was" unable to aquire the quality of coins he states his reputation on"and refunded my money without hesitation

silenoscoins:many pages of beautiful single coin auctions most are high grade with uncirculated traits lots of silver coins(denarii)and later silver washed antoninianus with silver still present,many hard to find scarce emperors , reverse and mint varieties.they offer a combined shipping deal of $3 for 1st item $1 each additional item. pretty cool stuff have a look and judge for yourself.seller will answer questions so ask 'em,but they are busy busy busy THIS STORE HAS BECOME MY PERSONAL FAVORITE : )note:just bought a couple coins and had a problem,envelope arrived with a tear in the flap 1 of the two coins i bought was missing .probably not the sellers fault but coin holder was not completely sealed and it took 30 days to recieve and never got a response from the seller,even tho i have bought many items from this person i wont be back any time soon if at all

oldcoinman:i have just ordered a lot of ten (10) coins,uncleaned offers uncleaned coins at $1.70/ea flat rate shipping of$3 .claims to have removed obvious slugs and all coins with holes or that are broken.also has seperate auctions for smaller uncleaned coins 20@ $15/ lot so hopefully the lot will be nice.posted 4/19/06.  RECIEVED 13 COINS NOT TEN IN 6 DAYS from payment SENT!sellers auction page is honest no OBVIOUS culls,althogh some coins appear to have been brushed with wire on sides to make sure no silver goes out(as stated in auction ,seller tells you there is no silver or gold to be found)1 constans,1constantiusII,1 theodosius,1 large as yet unidentified,recomend for someone just looking to find good uncleaned coins at honest store  A+++ low attibution rate on coins recieved

heideman-coins-and-collectibles:sells uncleaned coins in two grades @ .70ea. and$1.70ea. i ordered 15 of the $1.70 coins offers 1 free when you buy 10 $4 flat rate shipping posted sat 5-20. recieved coins 6/6/06.did get 1 free,after a week of soaking in distilled water i have:1,theodosius tiny coin,1 constantine the great commemerative,3,copper antoninianus one of these may be a claudius gothicus but im not sure the other two are unattributable,1 large coin i think its an as or sestertius,completely free of all details,1 possible follis with ba slight trace of a reverse,1 coin that is not roman or byzantine,and is still unknown to me,all the rest are junk,some have reverses but no readable legends and so out of 16 coins i have 3 that are possitively identified and 13 culls.SELLER IS NOW SELLING OTHER COINS FOR $3.75EA.and may have raised the shipping prices.decent coins i guess considering whats out there but i would have to say hes picking through these coins and selling coins that have a low attribution rate.I MAY SAMPLE THE $3.75 COINS TO SEE IF THERE ANY BETTER.highly doubt these are unsearched and have not recieved any feedback as of 6-17 it would appear that this seller is one of the vengance feedback types that make this guide nessesary,from the email i got from him i ASSUME hes the 1 person who didnt find this guide helpfull.regardless i now will NOT  sample his "PREMIUMS" at 3.75 ea for fear he may send junk.UNPROFFESIONAL,admitted in e-mail to searching coins and "adding to his collection,a FEW TIMES PER MONTH!!!

think about it tho,if you spend $20-$40 for a lot of uncleaned coins and only get 2-3 that are attributable it makes this route of building a collection very frustrating.most of the coins you get that will be I.D.able will more than likely be common coins of the constantine era or that ballpark timeframe,my personal opinion is that buying individual coins which you can see a picture of and are already cleaned and attributed is a more economical way to collect these coins and may become the only coins that i will buying in the future.reading this guide you know i have bought coins from 5-6 sellers and think pre-cleaned coins are more for me.
