vespa are great. I have restored two of them a vespa 90 and a p200 I bought both off of ebay sight unseen. if your buying to restore make sure its not a rust bucket. ask questions.and dont pay to much, under a thousand you can get a good restoration project. usually you can get them running with just a little carb work, a vespa is a really simple machine but has its little quirks so go to the bbs and vespa help for answers it will save you time and money, like why it starts and runs for five minutes then shuts down or when you ride it and park it floods out and you cant start it. the bbs and the blows have answers that can save you tons of time and frustration. these scooters are a passion and are old so they are going to be loved back to life. after you ride a scoot that you brought back from the grave you will understand. dont buy asian unless you see it in person and know vespa. buy a large frame p200 or any rally if you can. my fav is my p200 but i really want a 180 ss . paint it yourself that is the big expense in a rest if you have it done. time and patience is the key dont rush enjoy the process and use ebay to source parts you will save money but know your prices check the online stores such as scomo and for the price before you bid education is the key and be patient the parts will be on ebay in time , what you save will be worth the wait.if you dont want to wait buy a scoot that runs and all the parts have been addressed and make sure it has papers. itt and the others are slow and cost at least $175 before you are all done. i cant wait to start the next one. shipping is cheaper if you ship it as parts and not a scooter. just a old trade secret i was in the shipping buisness a long time ago Ciao, hope it helps
