I am also a victim of a fake Sony battery. I bought a supposedly 'genuine' Sony NP-960 battery for my DCR-TRV900 digital camcorder. the first time I charged up the battery and installed it on the camcorder, the screen showed 510 minutes use time. I was elated! I played around a while until the battery was about half discharged. I plugged in the battery and let it recharge overnight. Much to my dismay, it never recharged. Using my camcorder to read how much runtime was left, it read exactly where it left off from the very first charge. I kept trying to charge and use the battery until it was down to 22 minutes. I then left it on the recharger for an entire week! When I tried to use it for the last time, it read 17 minutes. I then realized that had spent $75 for a fake battery. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a battery recycling place anywhere near me at the time, so I wrapped the fake battery in a plastic bag and tossed it in the trash. I haven't purchased a new battery since. Like brydkidd said, my battery didn't have a warranty certificate. Buyer beware is right, and I wasn't aware enough.
